CEO to Workers: I May Fire You if Obama Wins
By Robert Frank | CNBC – 4 hours ago David Siegel, the owner of Westgate Resorts, sent a surprising email to his employees Monday. lIt said that if President Barack Obama wins re-election and raises Siegel's taxes, he will have to lay off workers and downsize his company - or even shut it down. "If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company," he wrote. "Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone." In a version of Romney's "47 percent" remarks, Siegel added that "people like me who made all the right decisions and invested in themselves are being forced to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed 42 years of my life for." The points are ones that have often been made during this election. But what makes the letter surprising is the source. --snip-- http://finance.yahoo.com/news/ceo-workers-youll-likely-fired-131640914.html What Hubris.... Asshole.

4. Illegal?
|
Someone else posted a similar office email from a boss last week or so, and someone responded to the post with quotes and links to the US Code stating that to try to coerce someone to vote one way or another or to not vote at all was against the law.
Wish I could find it now, but no luck. |

11. pffff...if my CEO sent me that letter, I would vote for Obama just to be a dick.
|
My hotel owner put out a "memo" in 2009 after the market crashed, saying that because the market crashed, the company would be on a permanent hiring and wage increase freeze. Well, motherfucker, that's not news, because I had already worked there for over a year with no offer of a raise for my good work and professional loyalty. Its an excuse. That piece of paper is still sitting in the office somewhere, too. I voted for Obama last time, and the day that letter showed up was the day I KNEW I had made the right decision. The ENTIRE lack of recovery in this country is excused by CEO's as being the REASON there is no recovery. "well, the economy is in the tank, see, and until there is a major recovery, we can't do anything about the recession."
Well, are you guys job creators? or not? Are you "Masters of the Universe" RESPONSIBLE for the state of the economy? OR NOT? For the daily double, Alex, my answer is "Only when it works in OUR favor?" Oh, good, I won the Daily Double. |

12. We need to contact his customers about this!

They may need to look at their options since they may need the service/product he produces. They might want to find someone else now. Also, do they really want to be in business with someone who has such low acumen as to select no profit than have a litter less because of taxes? Who know what other thing this guy would make a stupid judgment on.

15. What new type of crack is he smoking? Rich people got the bailout...
|
and continue to get the vast majority of the subsidies, tax breaks, and handouts.
I hope he does shut his business down. What does he think will happen? His competitors will just expand and/or new competitors will enter the market creating new jobs. Is he really such a megalomaniac that he thinks that resorts will disappear if he isn't controlling them? |
