Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

Sat Oct 6, 2012, 10:44 PM

Why do you like the DU? I love being ahead of the news cycle. I can post my ideas

and some of the time I am right. Some not. But it is fun anyhoo. I also like to see Americans getting their country back from the Republican cult.

1. Because it's one of the few sane political forums

I used to consider myself left moderate. But seeing how far(extremely) the right has gone, I'd say I'm very left now.

2. Yes I love the news congregation I find here.

Also, I love exploring ideas and appreciate the feedback, positive and negative.

3. I'm with you, great connections to breaking and useful news. Also the sense of community.

Over the years I've become Facebook Friends with many here, and had some RL face to face meetings!

I come every day and would sure miss it if ever you all weren't here!

from bought and paid for politician's from both parties.

There are very few honest men and women left on the Hill anymore.

5. The news breaks here before I get my Breaking News CNN or NYT emails. People here

have been so helpful to me -- in so many areas -- when I ask for an explanation or help. I've seen DUers rally to help someone in need. We have such knowledgable people here. I love you all!

6. Because I like communicating with sane, reasonable people.

And most here qualify!

Hey, I'm from Texas, so it's nice to carry on a conversation with folks who don't suddenly start spouting batshit crazy ideas at me out of the blue. The DU attracts educated, open-minded people who are up on events and happy to share their experiences on any number of topics. I learn something new every time I come here. And I've been coming here since Dumbya was just about halfway through his first term.

7. Because folks here are so on top of it,

I find myself way ahead of anyone I know on news stories. A BIG THANK YOU to all of you posters who supply so much of the information here. I am in awe of the ability to find and report newsworthy stuff here.

8. DU is totally in sync with news cycle

I wish I had a nickle for every time I'm reading a LBN article when I hear the same story on the radio. DU's strength is the in-depth observations about the story, and potential ramifications hours before the talking heads feed us theirs; some damn keen minds are found right here on DU.

13. Have you ever went for the karaoke?

I never step up to the mike myself, but the drunks can be pretty entertaining.

14. Because the surf is quite good,

the days aren't to hot and the nights aren't to cold. And its something to do.
I'm always correct, but I'm not always right. (That goes with "I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.")

One more thing spell check was created for me.

Plus, the bar's always full and the company entertaining.
