The Debate Was NOT The Election
Things will continue to happen that will affect the polls, up and down:
7.8% Unemployment
200 billion knocked off the deficit
continued fact checking of Romney (really, the true measure of who won the debate will be found in this data)
VP debate
2nd Presidential debate
3rd Presidential debate
All of the above will drive the poll numbers and the undecided vote. We want them to be driven toward Obama, of course, so the 1st debate didn't feel good, but remember that NONE of the current polls have been affected by ANY of the above!
The unemployment figures have not yet hit the polls. The Republican WHINING about the good unemployment figures has not yet hit the polls.
You want something to fret about? OK, imagine that the .3% change in unemployment had gone north instead of south. Imagine that on the tail end of the debate, Romney had been given the gift of higher unemployment. Imagine what that would have done to the polls?
Do you want reason to relax and celebrate? OK, imagine that you didn't have to deal with those higher unemployment figures - oh wait, you don't! Do you know why the unemployment #s went down? Because Obama's policies work. They have been tested. We have the truth on our side.
DO you know why Mitt Romney had to lie in the debate? Because his policies were tested under GW Bush, and they failed. Romney had to lie, because he does not have the truth on his side.
We have the truth on our side --wait...even better. We are on the right side of the truth. We are on the right side of history.
Don't panic! The Debate Was NOT The Election...
