My husband who SLEPT through last night's debate has set my blood pressure to 1000
After having to sit through the evening news and listen to all of the reports about Romney including reports from Massachusetts where his son Tig or Tag or Tuck or whatever the hell his name is was talking about how much his dad loves everyone and cares so much and people have been so mean, my head was about pounding. And hubby turns to me and says that the president was horrible and just standing there "out of it". So that about blew the top of my head off. I said that with the amount of lies Romney was spouting anyone would be taken aback. Then he said the President lied just as much Romney, and that I let this politics stuff get me too upset. Then he went to bed. Now I am sitting here FUMING!!!!!

Last edited Fri Oct 5, 2012, 09:20 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) My sister, who missed the debate, texted me earlier to find out what I thought... After three texts I just said it had to get better as the MSM (hopefully) reveals all Mitt's lies and then went off to sweat it out on the treadmill for 90 minutes.
Yes, I can relate... |

Avoided the news and ran for a little more than two hours. Still voting for the prez and hoping that sanity returns as fact checkers point out falsehoods.

I'm in a politically mixed marriage and the fur can fly at times. So I call my Liberal daughter on the phone and I talk extra loud to her so my rethug hubby can hear me pointing out all the lies and bullshit from Rmoney and clan.

one is 13 the other is 17 and they are wonderful! The thing that makes me crazy is hubby just spouts this "stuff" without any interest in knowing what is true and what really happened. That is what makes me insane!

Last edited Thu Oct 4, 2012, 11:09 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) he was saying that Obama is as big a liar as Romney. That is what made me nuts because he has no idea what he is talking about, has no intrest in politics and is just repeating junk he heard around the office.

21. Because its only politics that we clash so hard on
|
We are actually madly in love with eachother. We've been together for a total of 27 1/2 years married for 21 years. Fortunately he asks me who to vote for. He does think I am a bit too liberal but he also has Aspergers Syndrome so that adds about one million percent to his stubborness. So as much as I am bitching right now, I would not trade him for the world. He is amazing in so many ways he just infuriates me with his politics.

He grew up military in a tiny redneck town in Tx. I love him with all my heart, but he is just wrong in his political thinking from his upbringing.
We've only been married 3 yrs. Give me another 2 yrs. I've moved him from almost right wing to Liberatarian...he's a work in progress...and I'm a great teacher! I'm sure your hubby appreciates you for who you are at your core. Maybe he will eventually move to where you are politically! |

MSNBC so much, the insanity of the other side slowly kicked in. when you get knowledge, you start to become more interested. And, it grew. At Thanksgiving a couple years ago he silenced his whole wingnut family by saying "So all the families or all the soldiers who died based on a war based on bullshit...Who is going to answer for that?" It was a great moment.

Our kids are VERY liberal, my husband's family is VERY Republican so we have fun together (sometimes) I try to keep it as light hearted as possible and we stay away from heavy topics for the good of the family, so our political arguments tend to be more or less fairly good natured most of the time LOL!

Has he always been like this? It seems like marriage would be almost impossible if you didn't agree on most political issues. For instance if you both do the political compass quiz your dots should be pretty close too each other's when its over. Anyway good luck, I hope you can somehow fix him. I have the same problem with my mom, who still thinks Obama is a Muslim. I love her but for shit's sake politics can never come up or my head explodes.

I think your husband didn't fully grasp the moral difference between what Obama and Romney were saying. Romney was bullshitting, using the "Gish Gallop" http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251120949 ; Obama like wasn't fully accurate in what he was saying, but was nowhere near "lying". I'd have thrown a pillow at your husband!
The "Gish Gallop" is saying so much bullshit in such a short time frame that your opponent doesn't know where to begin to refute it all. |
