Style Vs Substance.... Which one counts more historically?
Can substance override style?
Given RayGun LIED HIS ASS OFF when he said "...there you go again..." in regards to his opposition to medicare it looks like style wins...
Your take?
Regards
My take is rMoney NEEDED a game changer and didn't have one...there was no "there you go again" moment...Obama needed to go through 12 rounds and still be standing and he did.
The disappointment is that he could've knocked rMoney out with two punch combos throughout the night and he didn't.....
Now the money will poor back into the rMoney campaign and not into congress....just my silver lining take

(6,960 posts)More than any other office people vote for president from their gut.
So style does matter more than usual for the presidency.
For the next debate, Pres. Obama better have some more assertive style, some more aggressive style, and some more combative stye.

(128,527 posts)then he would have to up it even more at the next debate, otherwise people will say - "oh, he's not as aggressive as he was in the last debate". And then by time he was at the last debate, anything less than rabid foaming-at-the-mouth spewing, would be considered a "fail". And that would lose it for him.
THAT is the issue.

(21,786 posts)(although pointing it out as such may be unpopular): Kennedy/Nixon, 1960. Polling after the debate showed that people who heard it on the radio thought Nixon won. But people who saw it on television thought JFK won. And this was just at the point when TV came into its own as a medium in political campaigns.

(10,942 posts)But President Obama needs to do a fucking better job of cornering Romney when Romney lies. President Obama squandered opportunity after opportunity tonight, that was crushing to watch.
