Comprehensive List Of GMO Products

NOW we can understand why Monsanto and partners are so desperately fighting California’s Prop 37. This list is truly sickening. ~G
Rumor Mill News agent writes ~ I have always wanted to know which foods I have been eating are genetically modified. This article is quite ironic because I just ate a Hostess Cupcake (which I normally never eat) as a lunch treat. It tasted awful!

I remember when I was little how good foods used to taste. Reeses peanut butter cups used to be good too, now they taste like detergent. Fruits and vegatables used to be crisp and juicey, now they’re mushy and dry. Dorito’s used to be a favorite of mine, now they’re disgusting.

I just found this article, and the foods listed shocked me. Cheerios are GM food! This is another list of products everybody should boycott, just like the “Outsourcing,” list I posted last week, thanks to Lou Dobb’s and his fantastic coverage.

GM labeling on all food products is mandatory in Europe, but here in America consumer’s are left in the dark as to exactly what they are eating.

Here is the list of Genetically Modified Foods – get ready to clean out your pantry!Prepare to blow chunks, this list is shocking. A few general observations: The availability of Non GM food vs. GM food is about 50/50. Most “brand name,” products and corporate giants genetically modify their foods. Most foods listed under the “non-genetically modified,” section are not well known and are not considered “mainstream.”

7. Wow, that pretty much includes most of the prepared foods we buy. How depressing :(

We try to avoid corn syrup, heavy sugars, nitrates/nitrites, but this is really deflating. I imagine it's much the same for Aldi and Trader Joe's stuff. We can't afford to eat all Amy's brand stuff. If we shopped at Whole Paycheck, we could easily spend $700+ per month on the family grocery bill.

...and this mutant crap "food product" really has not been tested -- pretty much only "studied" by corporately financed "scientists." Everyone else -- who might actually be impartial -- is legally blocked by corporate patent lawyers.

means hidden from public view.

In all likelihood you and everyone in your family has a belly full of GMO food right now.

If you want GMO food, you don't know it.

If you don't want GMO food you don't know it.

Either way, Republican "Values" have led corporations to occultly modify and mutate your diet.

People who love freedom -- most Americans -- don't go for that kind of sneaky shit (R).

47. Yeah, it has.

The French study on GMO foods was fascinating. Long term use of the food for rats created cancer. Is there a wonder why cancer is on the rise? On top of that, GMO foods mainly were made to resist round up. A poison that says on the side of the bottle, if ingested, call the poison control center. Does that sound like something that should be sprayed all over our foods?

And then, they take the frank enfold to a factory and insert numerous chemicals and dyes and fake flavoring and HFCS to send out onto the shelves.

Don't even think about factory farmed meat.

We need sustainable farming and time to cook real food.

86. I try to grow as much as I can and cook as much

real food as I can, but with crazy work schedules, kids school and football and extracurricular activities, time escapes fast for doing that well balanced nutritional diet thing.

Society, in my opinion, should have a 30hr work week (now that so many women choose to want a career). With double productivity, do we need 80 man/ woman hours? Isn't 60 enough? The task masters are getting an extra 20 hrs still. AND those 30 hrs need to be a sustainable working wage to support one's family.

Secondary education should be free for public Universities (if private, tuition in the amt that the public University would cost). Those who are better in trade, want to do nursing, police work, etc should be given the option going into junior year to apprentice in those fields to be better prepared for a career path... Not everyone is destined for University, but it shouldn't decide obe's fate to have a shit sanwhich life. Along with this lifetime educational opportunities, the first year with one's offspring needs to be off of work and paid (maternity & paternity pd time off). Then, we need to have govt daycare schools... Every child would have the ability for head start opportunity to get them prepared for the first grade.. I would keep the Kindergarten children with the per-school professionals since head start, beginning starts are still in the realm of 5yr olds and need different "learning professionals". Along with that, year round schooling with 3 wk breaks in between semesters.

Our health care system needs a total over haul. We need a Medicare for all. The yourger pay into the system based on their pay amt... If something happens with a job or someone wants to start a new business, they can try without the overwhelming costs of insuring their workers. It's a total societal need that benefits us all... It would also allow people who are 50- 55 to "retire" and do other jobs or volunteers or enjoy traveling... Thereby opening up positions for the younger generations.

And we need more time in general to enjoy life, travel, family, and time to pursue other interests other than just waking up and making it through the day like a zombie. Also, on that thought, people should be able to "work" in fields that best suit them. We know too many people, myself included, that are not giving society our best and brightest in the differing fields. I studied science, and I'm working as a hotel manager. Why? I'm better suited for research. It's very difficult to get in and be paid within "research" science. Most funding is bid on thru grants. Why? How can we compete when we spend so very little on actual science technologies (for goodness sake we allowed NASA to be defunded and it may be our only hope if we screw this planet up too badly)!

We have technology to help us; why can't we allow ourselves and on a bigger, wider global scale, the world to have a good life? Why should the Mittens of the world have it all and the rest left picking up the breadcrumbs left over.

157. Why is it that so many people say this to me? I'm not crazy (nor old enough) to run yet.

Plus, I enjoyed recreational drugs and a few random sex partners in my life, I'm sure I wouldn't make it too far without some asshole talking about having sex with me... And yes, they would talk, I'm quite good at it. LOL.

I grew up in VT. When I was younger, I thought the rest of the country operated like VT and decided things in town halls, present and accounted for. Ha, Ha.. what a delusional idea that is. Occupy was kind of close (wish the kids would hop on a bus and tour VT the first Tuesday of March).. Then they would have a better idea of an active, working democracy... That whole (let's all decide as a group thing doesn't really work and someone needs to lead the pack, we are communal people, we have leaders... it just happens.. its nature).

Overall, I see the big picture. I see how one item coincides with another. When I explain it in a few paragraphs or a few minutes, it makes sense and everyone can see the whole picture. I think Obama sees this picture too, he's just operating on a scale where money still = running a campaign, and its unfortunate. He's also a bit older than I am; by 20 yrs. I grew up with Reagan and then Clinton. I thought Clinton was great and couldn't understand what the fuss was about a freaking blow job. (something my generation doesn't really think of as sex - its a safer sex than contracting AIDS or getting knocked up) so its one of the things that is pretty damn good. Maybe that's why sex is good.. we did everything but actually popping a cherry until we were ready. I also grew up with people like Hillary Clinton and my mom who made a career possible, who made it normal for me to go to college without a second thought.

As I've gotten older and have a kid, I realize more and more how much "time" is the precious quantity, and it should not be monopolized by a corporation so one can survive... There is more to life and we should be allowed to live.

49. tvp + not all are organic

One important factor in choosing veggie burgers is to know that those made to mimic a meat taste usually rely on textured vegetable protein, often referred to as TVP. Unless the label specifically states otherwise, TVP is made by processing soybeans using the neurotoxin hexane (http://www.naturalnews.com/033728_TVP_textured_vegetable_protein.html). If you want a diet that avoids chemicals, as well as one which is more eco-friendly, you will want to avoid most products containing TVP.

Don't they say you are what you eat??

I have no freaking doubt that Cancer is caused by the ingestion of genetically modified food. Those mutant molecules are absorbed and processed by our bodies, and they're causing changes in our cells structure and DNA, causing malignancies.

Grrrrrrr

72. You nailed it.

I recently watched a video where a French research team publicized their findings about GMO. Here in the US the FDA accepts the research done by Monsanto et al, rather than conducting its own. Monsanto only does a 3-month study. The French team documented the rats' lifetimes.

You guessed it -- Most rats developed cancerous tumors starting at the 4th month of life. Interesting coincidence, huh?

Nor is this the first time the Romney family has been linked to organic food. Get a load of this 2002 profile of Ann Romney from the Worcester (Mass.) Telegram & Gazette:

Mrs. Romney was introduced to several practitioners of holistic medicine, who persuaded her to adopt alternative therapies. She now eats organic foods and very little meat. She practices reflexology and undergoes acupuncture treatments. She credits the lifestyle with turning her health around.

44. I wish there was a cited standard, definition of "genetically modified food" with this.

My main issue with this is that Shift Frequency (gillian) and Rumor Mill News have a strong conspiratorial point of view. Shift Frequency for example ascribes to the New World Order meme that circulates around the web. Any time I see "it's all a plot!" type pieces, I look for a more level-headed source. Or at least a source with some depth and informative background.

truefoodnow.org has a more informative listing, with an overview of its standard for labeling a food product as GM. Includes non-GM alternatives, as well.

All.

At least, that is my estimate - unless u spend hours directly gathering nettles, wild mushrooms and such.

Great book to address some of these issues is The Variation of Animals and Plants under Domestication, published by one Chas Darwin.

In the circa ten-thousand years since the neolithic agricultural revolution many plant (and animal) species have been domesticated - id est greatly genetically modified - from the naturally occurring species.

Magical Thinking: It is not just a bad idea.

115. You know, I have never tried their salsa.

But I am absolutely addicted to La Victoria Chile Verde Enchilada Sauce.

Heck, I dip bacon in the stuff. We have a guy at our Friday Farmers' Mkt who has bacon that is so good we call it "crack". His chickens are the best, too, but they cost $24.

The reason I have stuck with Pace for all these years is because the Pace family and ours go waaay back. Only today did I realize it is part of Campbell's.

I just checked my pantry, and the only pre-packaged foods were spices and enchilada sauce. I already poured the pace into my worm bin. We even press our own olive oil. We buy local dairy products, vegetables and fruit from farmers and dairies we know, personally. We grow our own, as well.

Gee, until I got into this thread I had know idea how organic our household is. We just live in a place where we can do all of this without really trying too hard.

I do, however, consume copious amounts of pre-packaged libations (we make our own wine, tho).

Here's a bit of one of their 'news' stories explaining current world events:

The Astrology of October features Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Mars enters Sagittarius on Saturday, October 6th, squaring Neptune as it does, while Saturn draws closer and closer in connection with the mystical numinousity of Neptune as the month gets underway, forming its exact trine as Saturn enters Scorpio on October 5th. This first week of the month is therefore particularly fraught, confusing and shimmering with shape-shifting possibilities as unbridled illusion and even deliberately deceptive behavior take center stage, in contrast to the grounded practicality of cautious Saturn.

Coca Cola has not made Surge since 2003.

I work for PepsiCo and we have not made Slice since 2000. In August 2010 PepsiCo replaced the original Sierra Mist namesake product with Sierra Mist Natural, which is sweetened with sucrose (instead of high-fructose corn syrup) and contains four other ingredients: carbonated water, citric acid, natural flavor and potassium citrate.

On edit: further down the list I see "Fruit Works" also from PepsiCo. We haven't sold that brand of drink for at least 5-7 years.

Wed Oct 3, 2012, 02:25 PM

77. Holy Shite!!!

"
This is by no means the only account of mysterious deaths associated with Bt GM feed. In India where livestock are left to graze on post-harvest cotton, thousands of livestock deaths have been recorded in different villages across central India where Bt cotton is grown (see Mass Deaths of Sheep Grazing on Bt Cotton, SiS 30). Shepherds’ own observations and post-mortem analysis carried out in the laboratory revealed abnormal liver, enlarged bile ducts and black patches in the intestine. The shepherds said that the sheep became “dull/depressed” after 2-3 days of grazing, started coughing with nasal discharge and developed red lesions in the mouth, became bloated and suffered blackish diarrhoea, and sometimes passed red urine. Death occurred within 5-7 days of grazing. Sheep from young lambs to adults of 1.5-2 years were affected. One shepherd reported getting diarrhoea from eating the meat of an affected sheep. The vets declared that the toxicity could be due to the Bt toxin but this could not be proven as results were confounded by additional pesticides used on the fields. The shepherds were however, advised against letting the sheep graze on any more Bt cotton plants
"
O.K. Now I'm havin nightmares Rain Mcloud. Thank you for this article.

149. Thank You for the info,i had been looking for one.

Sadly, the list is just the tip of the ice burg on the subject of corporate take over of farming and thus the world's dependence on food.
This does not detract from the importance of the list rather it enforces it so that the consumer may make an informed opinion before purchasing food to put on their family and grow the pie higher.

NAFTA was used as a vehicle by the Bio-Engineering firms to force over laws regarding the use of seeds and the products to support the crops.
Essentially making it illegal for Farmers to use seeds from local seed banks.
This is bad for several reasons.
GM seeds are not acclimated to many of the countries it is sold to and so have a high failure rate which is absorbed by the farmer.
In the case of Soy Beans, the Farmer must also purchase Round-Up in order to kill the Plants in preparation for harvest.
Thanks to Terminator Gene Technology, the crops are not fertile and so must be bought every year.
This Bankrupts the local Farmer and over 250,000 Indian Farmers have committed suicide by drinking Round-Up since 2004.
Wisely the Europeans have outlawed the use of Terminator Gene Technology.

Enter the Zombie Seed.
Zombie seeds have terminators built into them so that unless they receive a Hormone they will be sterile.
This despite the regulations from the EU.

For more info:http://farmwars.info/?p=845

Thanks again, you do us all a great credit by raising awareness of this vital issue.

was from a member of my grandfather's church in 1980. We picked it, drove ten minutes home, and right in the pot it went.

99. Boy, did I luck out a couple of years ago.

Thanks to my awake, aware and enlightened soulmate, my diet is now almost entirely organic. I only saw one thing in that list that I've bought in the last year, some Nature Valley granola bars.

We cook from scratch most of the time. Basically we stay away from almost all soy products (except for Nama Shoyu and some tempeh) and any corn-containing products that aren't specifically labelled "organic". 90% of the packaged stuff we buy has a proper organic label.

I used to think the whole subject was bullshit (I used to be a climate change denier too...) How wrong I was. How glad I am that I let her teach me.

Thanks for this public service, Howler.

109. Interesting. I went to Snopes-dot-com

to find out if they came across the list of GMO-"infected" foods in the OP. Nothing there, however, there was an interesting piece regarding Monsanto, which produces a lot of the GMO-corn used to make HFCS, which in turn is in most of the foods listed:

http://www.snopes.com/food/tainted/monsantocorn.asp

"Status: Undetermined"

Anyhow, make of it what you will.

147. I am trying to find organic....

It keeps getting harder. I started eating nothing but organic over 3 months ago. The first thing I noticed was that I have more energy. Well, that was the second thing. The first thing was that food tasted like food. I ate less because I was satiated and i have been losing weight. I also started with mineral supplements last month.

The thing is, you are what you eat. For many generations we have evolved using the amino acid building blocks that are in nature. And now they want to swap our wooden blocks for these shiny cheap plastic blocks. And I am suppose to be happy about that? I think not.

108. Here's a plug for wild Alaskan salmon.

Those frankenfish that they're proposing are abominable. Also please educate yourselves on the proposed Pebble Mine which could conceivably ruin the headwaters of Bristol Bay, where most of the wild Alaskan salmon spawn. Wile we have several troublesome environmental issues going on here now (Shell drilling in the Beaufort and Chukchi, for instance) Pebble is the granddaddy. I'd give them ANWR in a heartbeat if they would abandon the Pebble Mine idea.

Will do but I don't want them mucking around ANWR or any of the other places you mentioned. We already know Oil is not the way to go.Why keep messing up whole environments when we could be focusing on alternative energy?

I knew it was all over when a bowl would suddenly give me searing heartburn.

I think the ol' "acid reflux" is an industry created standard. Sell them the cause, sell them the "cure". Ahh...the FOOD and DRUG administration, the perfect corporate pairing for reaping insane profits. Apparently.

I believe Sen Kerry's wife still owns a chunk of Heinz, maybe we should direct some correspondance her way? Teresa Heinz Kerry. She's an environmentalist.

...or "healthy" choices, like Morningstar. I want to cut back my consumption of meat and thought Morningstar would be a good choice to do so. Now I have to watch out for GMOs!

The sited did provide this comment: A company letter states that they are in the process of converting to non-genetically modified “proteins” in all products. So maybe there's hope?

158. You have exceedingly stringent standards for what you consider to be junk food, then.

Most consumers are not purists who consider anything processed to be junk food.

IMO, there are a few things on that list that people would consider "healthy". Cheerios, Raisin Bran, Power Bars, Morningstar farms fake meat. Also: Heinz ketchup. What are people supposed to do, make their own homemade ketchup? Shame on Teresa Heinz Kerry, by the way.
