I know exactly what OWS wants. Justice. Fairness. Equality. They want the people who actually do all the fucking work not to have to suffer. They want it not to be Uniquely American to have to have 3 fucking jobs, if you can find them, to feed your family.

They probably want to not be sneered at by keyboard commando's either but judging by what I have seen on DU it's becoming a sport.

that did not have protests in the last, say, 50 years. There isn't one. This is nothing new at all. Nothing.

They should be going to the fundraisers, going to the caucuses and primaries, and participating in the process.

Get some candidates nominated that are Occupy-friendly. Get some convention delegates that are also Occupiers.

We have to be smart enough to remember what side best represents us... even IF we are not always 100% happy with what we get.

I supported the Vietnam protestors and their efforts in the 1960s.

And I certainly support OWS.

However, from a strategic point, having chaos outside of the convention doesn't help Democrats, OWS or the people who care about our struggle.

The protests outside of the Chicago convention helped give us Nixon and Ford for the next 8 years. And we don't need OWS chaos outside of Charlotte, giving us Romney, Gingrich or Paul potentially until 2020.

...this seems like a good idea. Our legislators are the enemy. They are the ones who opened the doors to a frictionless economy and said to the corporations, "Here. Take what you want."

The more we can hold their feet to the fire, the better.

This, like mass protests directed at Congress -not West Coast ports- is something I am wholeheartedly in favor of.
