1. I wish these ads had Mitt's own words and voice. I think that's the most powerful part of the video.

I wish there were spots that had 20 seconds of just some of the worst parts of that video, with a very brief comment at the end.

57. Yeah, these ads seem to assume people have seen the tape.

I think seeing and hearing Mitt say "I'll never convince them to take responsibility or care for their lives" causes one's fists to involuntarily clench in a way nothing else can.

I think if portions of the tape like that, and "It's my job not to care for those people", were on ads and seen by "soft" Republicans or the rare undecided voter, it could easily flip some votes. I seriously doubt that the tape has been shown nearly as much on Fox News as on other networks, so it's very possibly for GOP voters to have been largely shielded from it except what the Fox pundits and Rush told them to think about it.

I hope that there can be some ads that prominently feature the tape itself rather than just referring to it.

I do agree that the messaging on these ads is very clear, succinct and well done, though.

13. Nice dig at what America once called, "the idle rich" with contempt.

Now watch FOX "News" go off the rails drawing a comparison to the old Soviet Union and their glorification of the worker.

The whole "Hammer and Sickle" symbolized the urban factory worker and the rural farm worker.

Anticipate hearing them say, "worker's paradise" to pit their non-working 70+ retired listeners against EVERYBODY who is "expecting too much" and lots of fear of a workers revolt led by SEIU which to them is more of a danger than al Qaeda....

Cue theme music...

But they should have included Romney's own voice saying,

That's probably the the most damaging thing in the video.

but as a 47 percent-er, I do not believe I am capable of getting to work.

All joking aside, I appreciate the warm welcome. And although things may be looking up, I won't really feel good about it until I hear the result on election night (hopefully that night, anyway...)

By the way, as it turns out, David Corn - the guy who broke the story - came to the same conclusion:

if you write off your mortgage interest as a tax deduction are you part of the 47%?

then yes, you are part of the 47%.

The people falling into the 47% would most likely file a tax return. Especially if they are due some EIC credit refund.

you are 47%.

Until this decade I always paid federal income taxes. In what should have been my peak earning years, my industry and career collapsed.

I haven't been able to earn enough to pay federal income taxes since then. So I am a deadbeat 47%er, according to Romney.

46. is your refund greater than or equal to what you paid in federal income taxes?

Your W2 statements show how much you paid in federal income taxes for the year. If your refund is equal to or greater than that amount, then you are one of the 47% moochers.

If your refund is smaller than what you paid out, then you are not one of the 47% moochers.

Without the Mortgage int deduction we wouldn't get back as much so we are in a fuzzy gray area, but because Mittens would possible take away the mortgage deduction we would be too screwed for it to matter at that point

that fffft sound you hear are Republican pundits pulling out their hair.

"Why didn't we know this about Romney before we gave him the keys to the kingdom."

If only there were some way that they could put all of the candidates in a series of competitve races state by state where these kinds of issues could be asked and answered and then give Republican voters a chance to weigh in before the nomination is actually decided.

It is a great ad now if there was only some way to convey this message to millions of voters in their homes while they are watching oh a football game.

21. The Fluid 47%

Here is one thing I have not heard said about the 47% comments.

The 47% of Americans that fall into this category are a fluid group of people that changes through time. People move in and out of that group during different stages of there lives.

Seniors on Social Security worked and paid taxes in the past.
Students will work and pay taxes in the future
Unemployed people have worked in the past and will work again.
The military will come back and work if able.
Even the working poor hope to earn enough to pay taxes some day

The reality is that only a small fraction of those 47% are actually permanently in that category and they almost always truly need the help.

When looked at this way, the comments are even more cynical because he is really talking about a much larger portion of the electorate who have found (or will find) themselves in that category some day.

More importantly for us, THIS IS THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK. There will always be a portion of the society that is not currently contributing. They represent people that are contributing in other ways (soldiers), will contribute in the future (students) or have done their part and are resting in their golden years (seniors).

Which is why we need people like Romney to pay their share.

Yes, Romney fired a round into his foot. But that does not deter the true believers in his cause.

1) Under Gov. Mitt Romney, Massachusetts ranked 47th in job creation.

2) "There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it."

-- Mitt Romney, (begging for money at a fundraiser)

"I called 46 times
And you answered on the 47th
I called you 46 times
And you answered on the 47th

You tell me, you tell me, you've never felt so hard
For an obvious candidate
You said you hate your last love
And it's soon enough that you will forget

Don't believe everything you hear
Darling, I've never lied before
Don't you hear me whisper in your ear?
Forget him, you're what I'm waiting for

It's not time to let go, this is not how
It's supposed to end in my mind, my baby
Maybe our intentions were wrong from the start
So answer me, so we don't fall apart"

It's just so perfect, like they saw it coming 3 years in advance.

Doesn't make it conclusively clear that those yearly earnings are not paying federal taxes. It leaves me feeling unsure of the facts, therefor I feel dismissive of the commercial.

Can't someone give a breakdown of who makes that 47% so it can break down the effectiveness of that number.
