Walsh has an approval rating of only 35%. 46% disapprove of his job performance.
50% of people surveyed have a favorable opinion of Duckworth. Only 32% have an unfavorable opinion of her.
The same poll of the 8th Congressional District found President Obama leading Romney, 53% to 40%.

(28,017 posts)Walsh tried to pull a Christie, and ends up with pie on his face.
Well, a word of warning to Walsh. If he shows up with any more pie on his face, NJ's governor may accidentally chew it in the frenzy that follows.
I had high hopes for this race, but I never expected this spread.

(81,220 posts)I believe it was joe wilson (NOT the GOOD one who's undercover CIA agent wife was outed by kkkarl rove). In other words, VERMIN.
His fellow VERMIN, joe walsh (NOT the GOOD one who still makes great music lo these many years later, following his days with the James Gang, the Eagles, and his own solo work) is that loudmouth deadbeat dad who deserves to be flushed out - and that seat thoroughly disinfected before Tammy Duckworth takes it over.
It will be BEYOND satisfying to see this asshole FIRED and put out of OUR misery!

(39,961 posts)why do 32% have an unfavorable opinion of this remarkable woman?
She's awesome, determined, and if you have an unfavorable opinion about her, you would have an unfavorable opinion about everyone.

(31,706 posts)I live and have been canvassing this district for over 20 years. It used to be crimson red...represented for a long time by Phil Crane. The boundries, and most notably the demographics of the district changed as more "city folk" moved out to this area. It became purple and we were able to outst Crane with Melissa Bean (a blue dog) in '04. Bean would lose to deadbeat Walsh by a few hundred votes (mostly from Democrats staying home...pissed at Bean's blue dog ways). Tammy ran in '06 but in the 6th district. In 2010...thanks to a Democratic majorities in both state legislatures, they redistricted the 8th and 10th to make them more Democratic (which polls are showing they are). There's still a slivers of rushpublicans in the area but many are likely to be Paulbots and "libertarians". The Walsh supporters I've encountered just hate Democrats...period! Forunately...as this poll shows...they won't be a factor on election day. Tammy will make a great Congresswoman...
Cheers...

(31,706 posts)She uses the clip from above on her local cable spots (can't find it on the inner toobs). Deadbeat walsh has gotten a lot of outside money but Tammy is matching him on the teevee. It was fun to see people booing walsh at the local 4th of July parade. Everyone knows he's an asshole...and there are still some assholes who relate to him...like one big hemeroid...

The guy puts on a "show" if you will, talking at people for about 45 minutes BEFORE
anyone can ask any question or make any comment.
Like I said....Unbearable.

(95,337 posts)I mean 'Rocky Mountain Way' and 'Life's Been Good to Me so Far' are Joe Walsh classics and I love his work with James Gang. And have you heard his recent album - I love 'Analog Man'
This is a great video - he has Jeff Lynne playing with him.

(19,833 posts)Several people had multiple Walsh signs out but I'm not counting those extra ones.
The other thing I noticed was that almost all the signs were down-ticket races. Lots of congressional and lots of state rep/sen but almost no presidential.

(27,439 posts)I'm originally from Henry Hyde's old district which is right next to the 8th. Pretty conservative area but I never really thought of it as an area that would support a certifiable looney. Glad to see that Duckworth is ahead.
Go Tammy!

(29,067 posts)One of the big reasons she lost, which people rarely mention, is that a 3rd Party candidate
named Bill Scheure (I think he ran as a Green last time) ran in 2010 and took votes from her.
I live in Wauconda (not a bright blue area, though Obama won there by 52 percent)
but a lot of the Walsh supporters seem to be based in Palatine and McHenry...Just my observation.

(29,067 posts)In addition, I blame the third party (who had run against her before and lost)
because I have it on good authority that he had no real hopes
of beating her, but held a personal grudge against her.

(5,023 posts)I wrote Joe's office a message asking what his jobs plan was, in a nonpartisan manner, and never got a response. Now I know how his ex-wife must have felt. It's a pretty red district so I guess his incompetence has created a great opportunity for Democrats.
