What my republican FB friends are in a tizzy about today

Be warned. Today's right wing outrage concerns a campaign ad.

Various repeats of the comment:

"This is so inappropriate!"

Obama replaces 50 states with himself on US flag artwork

http://www.examiner.com/article/obama-replaces-50-states-with-himself-on-us-flag-artwork

President Barack Obama may have been having a good political week, but if the latest artwork from his reelection campaign is any indicator, it might have all gone to his head.

A tweet sent out today by the President's official Twitter account proclaimed "A poster to say there are no red states or blue states, only the United States." However, the flag on the poster promoted by the tweet had no states at all. Instead, the star field representing the 50 states was replaced by the "O" logo used by Obama's election campaign. The flag is available as an art print on the campaign's official online store.

The symbolism - that Obama appears to consider himself greater than the people of the 50 states - is not lost on his critics. Conservative commentator Michelle Malkin took to Facebook to say "OH MY GOD. Obama campaign remakes the American flag in narcissist-in-chief's image. You've got to see it to believe

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Personally I'm more offended by ads from the coal industry promoting "clean coal" or BP telling my how they're healing the gulf and gulf economy.

It is not as though they defaced (modified) an authentic flag for this. It is art, a representation of an ideal we all share. The Obama camp shares this ideal as well.

I mean seriously... the things people get outraged about. It's the media's fault, of course, they have to fill 24/7 of time so they make up this outrage shit constantly. Kid taken to the wrong bus stop? OMG call the local news station!! do an interview on Fox News!! outrage!! it's a sickness in America.

this for example is kind of creepy.

There’s a new way to show that you’re voting for someone who represents us all. Choose one of your reasons for voting and write it on your hand, then pledge to vote. You can share a photo on Twitter and Instagram with #ForAll. Check out some of the photos—you might even recognize a few of the faces.

Yet the repubs have a flag pin with the GOP logo on it and that ok.

http://weeklyworldnews.com/headlines/51448/obama-redesigns-american-flag/

President Obama has redesigned the American flag and ordered it flown from all government buildings starting in November.

It started as a limited edition American flag for sale by the Obama campaign, but President Obama loved the flag so much that he thought it best to “update” the American flag. The new Obama designed flag will be flying on all government buildings starting on November 7th, 2012.

The particular people getting "worked up over this" wouldn't vote for Obama regardless, they'd merely find another fictional bit of concern to rage over, so it really changes nothing...

I respect the dream of America that I have, the flag is a physical representation of this dream. I do not honor many actions this country has taken which desecrate this image. But I believe that we, as a nation, have the power to change this. We can bring honor back to our Nation and flag amongst all citizens of the world. We have to.

The GOP's war on women where birth control is incredibly difficult to obtain - yet boner pills are not only an accepted part of American culture but they're very heavily advertised on TV during prime time. That's far more offensive than any BS painting.
