Hey Scott Brown... Am I 'Indian' Enough For You?

Hey Scott Brown... Am I 'Indian' Enough For You?
by LieparDestin

This is me. By Brown's standards, I am an even whiter-guy than he is.

This is my father. He named me 'Kiowa'. Literally. That is my name. Sorry it is not more 'white' like 'Scott' or something.

Do you need to see my papers Mr Brown? It is people like you that likely caused me to become a Democrat in the first place. I grew up all the time with people telling my father he needs to cut his hair, go back to the reservation, making 'indian noises', Dances-with-wolves references, etc.

1. Why is Scott Brown resurrecting the Pilgrims and the Native Americans in Massachusetts?

Not his strongest argument to get votes.

9. Willard went to Univision with a 'tan.' Maybe Brown will go to the next debate

in a Pilgrim's costume. And he would think himself quite clever, I'm sure.

3. My Greatgrandmother was one fourth we believe Osage.

My Uncle was definately a throw back people always confused him as either native American or Asian. For me it does not matter in the scheme of time a few seconds ago 100,000 years all of us shared common ancestors in Africa.

4. Playing the racist card at the debate onset was incredibly tasteless and stupid

That alone may have cost him the election, revealing his true character and showing his desperation

12. I agree, it was the most racist shit I have ever seen in a Senate debate.

Warren answered exactly the right way, giving a straight forward answer to the people who will vote for her.

I think Brown just stuck a fork in to himself.

Good riddance to racist white trash!

11. Any person with Indian heritage must be incensed

That first whites tried to kill the Indian to save the man, then they send him to Indian Boarding School to unteach him his culture. Now he tries to make the children invisible.

As long as there is one drop of Indian blood, the spirit remains. Fuck the white man who says different.

20. 1/4 Cherokee here!!!!

So true, if Brown knew anything about the history of American Indian Tribes, what people of Elizabeth Warren's grandparents generation experienced (mine too,..........Both Grandparents on my Dad's side 1/2 Cherokee),.. well frankly he should be ashamed, and so should anyone else who goes down this route,.....................oh, BTW, I don't have my papers in order currently, but I am working on it,............if not for any reason than to say F.U. to people like Scott Brown!!!!

On a brighter note,.. Thanks so much for sharing these photos. I especially love the last one!!!!Very beautiful and powerful!

16. I'm 1/2 American Indian (never did like the "Native" tag)

and 1/2 Irish and some of my grandchildren are blonde with blue eyes but they are still 1/8 degree of Indian blood! American Indians are the forgotten people. At 5 years old, my mother was sent to a "boarding" school in Nebraska (we live in Kansas, sorry to say) and stayed there until they had an outbreak of small pox. She traveled by train with other Indian children but without either parent. The plan was to take the "Indianness" out of these kids - to have them learn English and how to dress like whites. My dad was of a different tribe but their dialect was so similar they would speak Indian to talk about something they didn't want us to know - it worked! Elizabeth Warren could be related to me in that she does look like some members of my family! Scott Brown is an idiot!

22. LOL about the "Indian" thing

No one here in Oklahoma says Native American. It's Indian tribes, Indian casino, Indian water rights, etc.
Sometimes people will say American Indian. Maybe because here in Oklahoma when you say Indian, everyone assumes you mean a native, not someone from southern Asia.

Of the Cherokee tribe. By a stroke of fate, my hubby is from southern India. It is a running joke in the house as to who is more Indian. Interestingly enough, he is entitled to tribal benefits by virtue of marriage.

Go figure.

Elizabeth Warren hails from Oklahoma, aka the Indian Territory, I don't doubt that she or any family living generations in Okla have Indian ancestry. Although I had the ancestry, I did not get my card until two years ago. Unlike the 1%, I did not rely on the government teet. I paid for my education, etc. Dad moved off the Rez to get a job. I got the card as a legacy for my daughter. Grandpa was dirt poor and alway felt bad that he had nothing to give us.

But unlike Mitt's monetary inheritance, Grandpa gave us a far richer legacy: a history that extends to the beginning of time, a true spiritual core, a sense of freedom and that has not been beaten or breed out, and an ability to truly understand and value the whole of your tribe.

34. Just wanted to say that you last paragraph touched me

My grandparents had nothing to pass on to any of us either, monetarily. But I always knew that they loved me and they are the foundation of what I've managed to accomplish in genealogy. While we are not American Indian (except for a Pottawatomie woman back in 1765), their family stories were invaluable to helping me understand my family's past and where we came from.

Thanks for posting. I grew up with an aunt who is 1/4 Anishinabe, from Minnesota. She taught me about her people when I was a kid, instilling in me a deep respect for indigenous cultures. I about choked when I read what Brown had said.

21. It's a myth on the Right that white males are being screwed by affirmative action,...

...Scott Brown is saying if Warren hadn't committed fraud by claiming to be a Native American she wouldn't be where she is today. Thus accusing her of being an unqualified liar.

To quote Malloy, have I mentioned yet today how much I hate these people?
