5. She's an honors grad of Stanford

Getting her on the Miss America vs Miss USA thing was sure to unsettle her.

GS's bio has never quite connected with her performance on F&Fs. Makes one believe in developmental psychology sine Michele Bachman was supposedly one of her "nannies".

Wasn't sure whether he was a budding comedian punking them by purposing shifting his eyes back and forth and back and forth between the chortling deer-in-the-headlights moments to mimic being "nervous" or whether he was paid and trying to read cue cards (badly) held up by too many staff off camera or whether he was on some sort of drug... And then he went on to say that he first met Obama when he was in 3rd grade... ?

Guess they needed to fill a couple minutes of airtime?

The emphasis in "Miss America" is supposed to be more on talent, accomplishments, etc. with beauty only a secondary consideration.

The "Miss USA" and "Miss Universe" (world level) pageants are more skin bazaars.

2. He didn't vote for Obama in 2008 - he was only 16 at the time.

3. He is president of a stand up comedy club at his university.

The comments about losing the basketball game and therefore having to vote for Romney and meeting Obama when he was a kid both appear to be true.

He also claims they just put him on the air without asking too many questions (or looking at his DL to see how old he was).

58. AWK-ward

I think that kid was serious. I don't think that was a prank. And, yeah, it backfired royally.

It will be interesting if they give him another chance, because you know, they'll have coached him.

He's only a sophomore in college and so the entire set-up was BS.

No one even bothered to check his DL he has said.

79. do the math, Gretchen. He wouldn't have been old enough to vote in 2008

math never has been a strong point for Fox - where percentages often add up to more than 100%

86. It was Gretchen who never got serious. She never asked him a pertinent question

beyond the setup, when she lost it for some reason. Paranoia? wow, she pushed the eject button a bit early, IMO

lol

89. I'm going to take serious heat for this, but I think she

handled him nicely. She was on to him early, never lost her cool, remained polite, and shuffled an incoherent guest off the air quickly. HE was the idiot. He wasn't funny or witty, just juvenile. He blew a great opportunity. What I saw was a jackass, and an adept tv personality pointing out his jackassery.

91. The question isn't whether Gretchen Carlson

is a professional journalist or not. One would hope she is, for christ's sake.

In her high-profile media position, she ought to be able to field any curve balls thrown her way.

The irony is this "parody within a parody". FOX sets up what they expect will be a staged moment to "get" Obama and they "get taken" for fools instead.

Their blatant propaganda operation was
revealed in all its splendor.

Bad vetting, bad production = major embarrassment.

ETA: They didn't even bother to check how old the kid is. He's only 20 and has never voted for Obama. He was 16 in 2008. Anything to get an anti-Obama rant on air!

93. Not that we know of. The "DU" label was just for fun,

hence the "mystery undercover" qualifier.

Max Rice is a 20-year-old college sophomore at the U. of Texas-Austin, who does some stand up comedy.

He was 16 in 2008 and has never voted in a presidential election, let alone for Obama.

Faux News is so damn stupid. This proves they don't do their homework on their guests. The guy was later interviewed and admitted they cast him on the show and were giving him talking points.
