I never thought Fred really did Obama. He was just the only dark-skinned cast member. The new guys' impersonation was much more accurate.

But he IS more "ethnic" looking. That's all he had going for him. He did a horrible impersonation of Obama.

16. Chevy Chase's Ford

You ever see that? Chase didn't even try to look or sound like Ford, and to this day I think of him smacking into microphones or hitting himself in the face with a clipboard or telling his stuffed dog, "Sit, Liberty!"

For me, it always comes down to the material. I just think Obama is tougher to pin down. It's what I hated about their Gore. They bought into right wing spin and beat him over the head with it.

Ah well. First show. Hopefully they'll come up with something better than, "I'm aloof. I'm distant." I guess because I don't see that, the impersonation didn't feel true. We can't always strike magic the way they did with Tina and Hillary and W and Bill.

But the material was painful. Not one good laugh. Sigh. Really made me miss Tina's Sarah, Amy's awesome Hillary, Darrell's Bill and Will's W. I'm hoping the show just needs a few weeks to get its footing on the political skits.

First time I was in the next room and didn't see it very well. I thought the new Obama sounded better than he looked, though I appreciate this one is at least African-American.
The Romney portrayal is too loose. Romney carries himself like he literally has a stick up his ass. That's what is missing in the interpretation, and his voice is too loose too. Everything about Romney is uptight.

the speech patterns were painfully exaggerated and unconvincing. Also, the guy looks like he's about 19, which didn't help. The worst thing, though, was the material - very disappointing, considering what a target-rich environment the Romney campaign has presented. I guess it's hard to do satire when reality satirizes itself.

At least Biden actually IS an animated guy. This Romney didn't feel like Romney. One of the biggest problems Romney has is his inability to put off any warmth vibes. JS' Romney seemed nothing like Romney at all.

I'll admit I liked Ryan and his lies and problems with "numbers." My one almost- laugh was his "Now let's talk about the budget!"

Fred was ok, but I just really think they've struggled to find that ONE trait that they can build the parody around. Dubya was an idiot; Sarah was a pageant queen; Clinton was a hound dog; Gore (altho I never liked that one as much) was a stiff; etc. all these years later, all they seem to have for Obama is his speech patterns.

Tho they can bring back THE ROCK Obama any day. He's their best Obama for me! LOL.

As a caricature, it's pretty good in accentuating certain vocal habits of the president for comic effect.

That's different from an impression.

I thought it was a cute and affectionate caricature.

This is the best Saturday Night Live in ages. The put down of Romney in the opening skit was terrific.
The Obama is much better, not great but much better.

The Romney was very good, and the Ryan not so bad. But the Obama? Painful to watch. Other than having brown skin, he was not remotely like the president.
