Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) jokingly compared the teachers strike in Chicago to the unrest in the Middle East during a speech at the Values Voters summit Friday morning. “You know, we had a lot of bad news this week,” DeMint began. “On my way over, I was reading another story about a distant place where thugs had put 400,000 children out in the streets. And then I realized that was a story about the Chicago teachers strike.

Fifteen of the big dollar donors to Stand's efforts also contributed to Rahm Emanuel's mayoral campaign. The top givers were Griffin and his wife, with $200,000 in contributions, while the Crowns gave $115,000 and Hulsizer chipped in $100,000. In total, Stand for Children donors gave $720,000 to Emanuel's campaign.

You have to wonder if Obama's first two years would have done better with someone besides this sleaze at his side. rahm and arne are two of the lousiest picks that he could have made. Both have damaged his reputation and misled him badly. Let's hope that he does a better job of choosing advisors for his next term.

2. Anybody want to compare:

Jim DeMint's educational level and pay
to a Chicago teacher?

Male dominated occupation to Female dominated occupation?

People who set their own pay scales to people who have to accept what is offered?

4. I think Rahm and Obama had a falling out. The Opportunity for Mayor opened

and they used that as his graceful out. JMO

6. And there's Timmy Geithner, Larry Summers and Robert Rubin not to mention Austan Goolsbee and a host

of others. I find it hard to believe that Obama was unaware of their respective backgrounds and politics. All have been involved in D.C., politics for years.

9. Remember, the Democratic Party is a Big Tent party. It is not Litmus Underground.

We should not be giving so much hell to Rahm Emmanuel, after all that would make us monolithic and intolerant of other people's views. It might even alienate haters of teacher's unions and even haters of Occupy Wall Street.

Sincerely,
Third Way Zal

10. Plenty of room for gay-haters and misogynists too.

Just so long as we can kick those sorry hippy liberals out of the game.
