My apologies to Norah O'Donnell (CBS Morning Show).

I called her a twit a few days ago, but now take it back after watching her question Rob Portman this morning.

He repeatedly tried to say Romney criticized Obama because he (Obama) apologized to Muslims for the 'film', and she corrected him each time, stating that Obama did not know about the film when he made the statement. She made Portman stammer and he ended up looking like a fool.

Good job Norah. Keep it up.

Disclaimer: My apology today does not mean I won't call her a twit in the future.

They were discussing the statement issued by a press officer at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo in an effort to calm outrage over the offensive anti-Muslim video (which the Embassy did know about).

O'Donnell's point was that Romney and Portman were wrong to construe the statement as an apology to the attackers in Egypt and Libya because it was issued well before those attacks ever occurred. And, in fact, the first US. statement after the attacks was a condemnation.

You're right, she did do a great job in challenging Portman, leaving him stumbling badly and trying to use up his time to avoid any more questions from her.

Portman seemed truly baffled, he didn't expect to be questioned like that.

are in the Cairo embassy's statement as he claims. Here is the statement:

"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others."

Where are the words, "we apologize?" Do I need a secret decoder ring to see them in this message?

I condemn Mitt Romney for his distasteful use of the deaths of US diplomats to try to score political points. So do Republicans interpret that as me issuing an apology for Mitt's insensitivity and stupidity?

Jeez. These guys just keep digging.
