Tiger Woods' ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, has razed the $12.3 million estate she purchased after her divorce settlement from the 14-time major winner.
Nordegren obtained a permit to tear down the 17,000-square-foot home, located in the Seminole Landing development near North Palm Beach, and build a new one, according to the Palm Beach Post.
She is living in a nearby condominium while the work is being done.
The house that formerly occupied the plot was built in 1932 and had eight bathrooms and an elevator, The Golf Channel reported.

(16,612 posts)Such a waste. She could have sold it and donated the money to charity. Hell hath no fury... but, this is just plain stupid.

(32,078 posts)I really can't understand why she didn't just jack the price up, based on the fact that it was the place where Tiger Wood's ex-wife beat him up with a golf club after finding out he cheated on her. There are people out there who would pay big bucks to own such a place. She could have just pocketed all that cash. She's not only self-absorbed, she's downright stupid. What does she have now? An empty lot, and she's out the cost of demolition, as well as the cost for a new place. That's a shitpile of money that she's spent for a tantrum. What a dumbass.

(25,240 posts)Their house was in Windemere, Florida and this one is in the Palm Beach area. I'm beginning to think that she is bats*** crazy and am beginning to feel sorry for Tiger. Perhaps maybe she was the cause of Tiger wandering. Hmmm...... just a thought.

(16,165 posts)will make people batshit crazy. Imagine the choices, eat well or eat well, be very comfortable or outlandishly comfortable, drive which 80K auto today? Jeeez, one could lose their mind just contemplating all of that.

(32,078 posts)I was also beginning to think the same regarding Tiger's wanderings.
I guess if I had read the whole thing better I would have known that wasn't the same property. Still, I can't understand why she bought the house in the first place. Why didn't she just buy some property and build on it? I guess if the price tag was mainly for the property, rather than the house, I could see tearing it down. Especially given the age of the place. It just seems rather sad to me.

(32,078 posts)I wish they had just said so up front, instead of making her look like kind of vindictive nutbag. In retrospect, I'm not surprised to hear about the termites, especially in a house that old. They are pretty bad in the Southeast and Florida, especially in the coastal areas, where those nasty Formosan termites are a big problem.

The mere existence of Las Vegas is testament.
This is at least the third thread I've seen on this woman knocking down this house. But I won't see it any more because after this post I'm going for the "trash" button. And same for any other threads on this subject.

(9,000 posts)a guy that he was doing work for buying two 25 million dollar homes, side by side, on Long Island Sound. He was tearing them both down to build one 50 million dollar home. The funny thing is that his wife was trying to save all the brass fixtures so they were not just thrown away. He said he didn't care as long as it didn't affect his 50 million dollar budget for the new home. What a guy. That's 100 million he was spending.

I agree it's a waste, but just wanted to correct a historical myth.
