The Greatest Story Never Told

How is it possible to "win" an election when the majority of voters reject you?
When I see that Romney is being called a winner when he polls at 40 some percent all I see is that 60 some percent of his party is rejecting him. And to declare victory with only 20 some percent, as in Iowa, is beyond comprehension.
Now I know it is a horse race and they candidates are in a popularity contest of sorts, but isn't the real story about not one of them being in favor of the majority of their following?
Is this not proof that the Republican Party is totally fractured and their electorate is essentially dismissing the whole pack?
Is this not the real story the media should be focusing on?

Americans are sick of the Republican lies.

Even Republicans are sick of their choices. And no wonder. Look at the menu. Start with cream cheese Romney right down to pickled Perry and sour Santorum. Add a little gooey Gingrich and top it off with Hoisin Huntsman. It's all sauce, no substance.

and even they know he's a complete dud.

Half the (R) electorate must be walking around in a daze.

With so many candidates in the race, it would be rare for one candidate to get 50% in the first contest. By itself doesn't mean anything.
