Here in Glen Beckistan, Our Violence is More "Tasteful" than Violence in the Muslim World

This morning, America is clutching its pearls and assessing the violence in Libya, shaking its head at extremists who are easily goaded into murdering strangers in the name of their personal religion.

"My divine creator can beat up your divine creator, so there."

""Oh yeah? Well, my divine creator needs me to kill a few random strangers to get even with you. So there."

**boom**

It's so tacky the way they do it, I swear.

Here, we have Glen Beck announcing on 50,000 Watt AM stations that "Progressives must die!" and urging listeners to "Cut Nancy Pelosi's head off!"

"My politics can beat up your politics," and so on....and we see, as in the above example, where this leads.

But when OUR crazy people are goaded into killing others in the name of dogma, we don't blame the Glen Becks - those frothing at the mouth, violence-inciting lunatics who daily urge listeners to harm strangers - we instead focus on the "mental stability" of the murderer, divorcing him from any stochastic or reactionary rationale for his deadly rage.

We don't stop the Glen Becks who incite violence here, as my response from the FCC clearly indicates.

We tastefully look the other way when there is a mass killing by an American, choosing to explore the problems and fatal flaws of the individual. We tastefully look the other way at the record numbers of threats made on a president's life, at the post after post on internet forums in which American Christian fundamentalists indulge in discussions of fantasies where they kill all the "non-believers."

So we feel very free to criticize all you Arabs. You guys need to be more "tasteful" about your murders in the name of religion and politics, as we are in the US.

We are outraged, outraged, I tell you.

2. What you said. I'm having deja vu about the Glenn Beck thing...

I'm very aware every time I post about Wishadoo! here on DU that conservative websites pounce upon it (and me).

In the last 24 hours I've gotten emails and FB posts/messages reminiscent of when Beck dissed Wishadoo on his show. I guess with it being campaign season all this activity is ramped up now.

"We're WATCHING YOU." (I get that a lot; creeps me out)

"Why don't you include God and Country in your Wishadoo-doo stuff, you liberal, commie godless heathen!!!"

3. We have lunatics right here!

And if things were just a little different, they'd feel no shame in doing the same thing as the violent extremists in Libya.

Why are we kidding ourselves here?

Someone posted this morning - and I paraphrase: "Is that the best thing you could do with your time?" All of those stalking you and Wishadoo! need to be asked the same question: "Is that the best thing you can do with your time?"

They love violence and playing little Gawds of the Keyboard, every bit as much as some in Islam love to claim victimhood because of some schlock movie.

Peace, Woman. You are one of the few humans I know who is part of the solution

4. Extremism is extremism...

and it seems the fundamental extremists have exerted entirely too much power all over the world -- the US included, which is evident in today's Republican Party.

Peace to you as well, Tsiyu.

5. Yes, the extremists get "all the grease."

I think of all the good that $5 Million could have done ( the funds to make the stupid film ) and also the good the salaries of Rush, Beck, Savage could do. Or the money Adelson fronted Gingrich and Callista.

Extremists just throw money around like it's water. using it to spread hate, and meanwhile millions are without basic needs.

Unbelievable sometimes...when you try to fathom it all...

7. Not yet

So, since this violence didn't take place...yet....we can avoid Glen Beck's call to violence.

We're so untacky that way!

America! Fuck yeah!

8. Do you think a Beck-inspired mob will storm the US Capitol and do it themselves?

Or are we REALLY different from those people in the middle east? I'm going for option 2.

9. Well, you haven't been paying much attention

Just a hint: There are a lot of angry folks out there who are advocating just that very scenario - as in, they are gonna "take back their government" from the Kenyan, Marxist Muslim socialist Fascist.

The Feds have interrupted a few of these American Reichwing Fatwas.

I hope your happy little hopefulness means they'll stop every one. The threats on Obama's life are very real and are relentless.

But stay in Happy Fun World! It's truly a lot nicer there.

11. Given the right circumstances

They could become "a Benghazi mob of zealots!"

You fool yourself if you believe otherwise.

Go google the phrase "second amendment remedies" and get back to me.

12. Those circumstances don't exist here.

2nd Amendment Remedies are the fringe of the fringe. You're giving that lunatic fringe too much credit. Dangerous yes, numerous to the point of predominance? no.

13. Sure

Extremists are everywhere:

snip

Williams wrote that “Let me make it clear, the CEO is being punished by government officials because he exercised his First Amendment right of free speech. The Constitution is very clear. When government restricts and punishes the people for exercising their First Amendment rights, then we are to default to the Second Amendment (right to keep and bear arms). These two mayors need to be introduced to the Second Amendment ASAP.”

He went on to say “The correct response to these mayors would be to send troops or whatever to remove these men from office, by whatever means is necessary.”

Which just shows that Williams is not exactly clear on the difference between opposing government overreach and overreacting by deposing the rightfully elected government.

Williams tried to remedy his gaffe by saying that the letter is supposed to remind people that “some things are worth fighting for, if they cannot be remedied by any other measure.” Apparently, Williams believes that blocking a franchise of a restaurant is just like living in Syria.

Oh, Sure. We don't have violence-prone leaders here. No siree..... or at least we sweep their words uner the carpet mighty fast.

Nothing to see here....move along.....

14. "numerous to the point of predominance"

Extremist fringe factions are not dominant in terms of being the majority opinion.

That doesn't stop them from being extraordinarily dangerous, no matter the country.
