My daughter sent that to me.

2. Romney said it and it is a historic KKK slogan.

from Snopes:
"Keep America American" is not (and never has been) the slogan of Republican Mitt Romney's presidential campaign

from Romney:
“There are people in this room who are informed and who care about this election, who recognize that this is a defining time for America,” he said. “We have on one side a president who wants to transform America into a European-style nation, and you have on other hand someone like myself that wants to turn around America and keep America American….”

Regardless of the refinement offered by Snopes, the parallel is undeniable.

4. Snopes is itself part of the problem - 0 credibility, about as "fair and balanced" as you know who

They're trying to make a distinction without a difference:

KKK - Keep America American
R/R - Keep America America

The Romney people are either incredibly ignorant or don't give a shit about the secondary messaging (or embrace it).

6. I think it's that last thing

That's a perfect example of the phenomenon that's being called the "dog whistle". Coded language. They say it without really saying it, but their target audience understands. Just like dude the other day with the hot branding iron on the President's ass. You said it and you meant exactly what people think you meant.

You could almost respect them if they just said how they really feel and left it alone instead of the back pedalling and non apologies. Almost.

7. We need about 8 parties, minimum, to capture just the GOP:

1) Randian Galtists
2) Rovian dirty-tricksters
3) Norquistian Tax Deniers and Gov't Bathtub Shrinkers/shirkers
4) Bush/Romney Global Outsourcers, Vulture Capitalists, and Bank Embezzlers
5) Robertsonian Cable Church Operators
6) Moonies
7) Unreconstructed Confederates and Klansmen
8) None of the Above and Others - for those too weird, hostile or antisocial to identify with the above

We should let them all just be themselves, unalloyed and unwashed. Put them in a jar. Shake.

5. I wonder what would happen is President Obama had said something that resembles

a black panther slogan from the 1960's.

sorry but romney's quotes it's still too similar for me to feel comfortable with him. it's definitely a dog whistle
