there is no question he was using it to manipulate women voters. I felt like he was betraying his parents and their relationship, but that impression could have been from his horrid speaking style.

...Has Mitt carried on the tradition, doing the same for his wife?

Presumably he hasn't, or it would be common knowledge by now.

And if he hasn't, it is far from the first time he has chosen NOT to live up to the high ideals set by his father (thinking of release of tax forms, anti-war stance, standing up for civil rights, etc.)

Everything about his speech was so robotic. I heard from someone else that he looks like a sprinkler on the stage

Mitt the robot on puppetstrings... that's how he came across.
It was so faux.

He was saying all sorts of things to try to win women over, and this was just one of those things.

I don't even think it's cynical at this point to assume that anything Romney says is a lie - he's demonstrated that he is a liar.

Really, never underestimate flower power.

Obviously, I can't vouch for the authenticity of that particular story, but I've regularly sent flowers, cakes, and more flowers to my girlfriend at work. I don't have a lot of money so I have to find good deals, but it got so bad that once flowers arrived for someone else and they put them in my girlfriend's office out of instinct.

And with every little bouquet, a love poem.

Anyway, some guys are just like that.

in Michigan. No, that doesn't work. OK, George cultivated roses in a secret greenhouse that no one else knew about, so that he could pick one every day even in winter. Hmm, not believable. OK, George has a secret stash of plastic roses and gave one to his wife every day, then retrieved and recycled it for later. His wife never figured out in 50 years that they were fake.

...bunch and keep them refrigerated himself. If he wanted to, anyway. Again, who knows if this particular story is true.

I actually think putting a flower on someone's pillow daily is a poor idea: The surprise wears off pretty quickly and the whole point of it is to surprise a lady by letting her know you're thinking about her. And making other women jealous.
