Because if you cut the program, you still have the costs. If you cut Medicare, it will simply mean that a lot of people who now rely on Medicare either rely on their children to pay their costs or go bankrupt.

The children don't have the money, you say? Oh, but if you are young and your elderly mother has a house, you will inherit the value of the house when your mother dies. Instead of going to you, the equity in your mother's house will go to the hospice in which you mother dies or the doctors who care for her as she is dying. That is how it will work. And remember, your mother paid for her Medicare when she was working.

Every time you buy a tee-shirt or a pair of underwear made in China or Guatemala or something made in Taiwan or India, remember that the worker that made what you bought did not pay income or payroll taxes in the US, and that you are helping defund Medicare and everything else we rely on our government for.
