Just a sobering thought for a sunday morning

The period of several months between the election and next spring will be the most dangerous time in terms of our nation's economy that we have seen since 2008, and possibly 1928. The few weeks the (lame duck) Congress will be in session at the end of the year will do much to determine the course of the next four years. This comes as much from legislation that may or more likely may not be passed as it will from a possible change in the rules by which Congress conducts its business. In either event bold action will be required from very same 435 elect who have effectively crippled Government for two Congressional Sessions back to back.

Its not a pretty picture.

And what waits in the background? Half of the voters in this country accept faith over fact. We are becoming increasingly violent and weapons are more plentiful than ever before. Our schools are failing as quickly as the rest of our infrastructure crumbles. We have become slaves to our banks and insurance companies and the plutocracy no longer hides its face. We are fighting wars that receive no mention while at home financial predators prey on us.

And none of this needs to be the way it is.

Yes, it does. And I'm sitting here trying to compose a response to a friend who says not. 1-Old-Man Aug 2012 #2
