Let me make a distinction here, just for Government Haters

I find it disgusting when someone tells me they don't vote because it doesn't make any difference, they're all the same, that its meaningless who's in Office. The words of idiots if you ask me. So here's a distinction I really want to drive home. Politics and Politicians are not the same thing as Government and Government employees. You may have a sleazy politicians who you particularly dislike but that does not for one second mean that there is anything wrong with the job your mail carrier is doing or the competent help you get when you visit your local Social Security Office to sign up. The Park Ranger and the security Agent traveling incognito on your airline flight are not your enemies and they are not screwing you in any way at all. They do not receive great financial reward or perks for their work, they pay for their own insurance and in almost every job category they work for less pay than their corporate counterparts. It is one thing to despise a Party or a Politician, but they are not the Government. The Government is made up of all the very good people who provide the essential community services that every single one of us depend on every single day, be it air-traffic-control or the defense of ours shores.

Rant over. Thank you for your valuable time.

It's the same point I try to make every time someone brings up the Post Office or the Dept. of Motor Vehicles as giving poor service, which I don't think is true. (I find the service consistent and attentive.) I tell them if you aren't getting good service from those agencies then vote in some politicians who will give them the funding and tools they need to operate better.

On the one hand you have teachers and mail carries and the folks at Social Security. On the other hand you have CIA agents, FBI, DHS, etc. etc.

It is all in the balance. Frankly, I think that balance is starting to tilt in favor of the police state government folks, which is not a good thing, not a good thing at all.
