Hopefully, this is a repost, but it's fantastic.
Michael D. Higgins (who was elected president of Ireland last year) is fed up with over-the-top Tea Party rhetoric, and he isn't afraid to show it. Listen to him call out radio host Michael Graham on everything from health care to foreign policy. Trust me, you don't want to miss this one.

(67,089 posts)bullies count on that. More people need to tell them to go fuck themselves and craw back under the rocks from where they came, all they are doing is pulling this country down for the 21st century. They are in the way and are obsolete.

(23,593 posts)"Michael Graham is an American talk radio host, writer, and conservative political commentator. His daily talk show, The Natural Truth, airs on WTKK in Boston. Graham is the author of several books and is a columnist for the Boston Herald.
Graham was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in South Carolina. A graduate of Oral Roberts University, he worked as a stand-up comedian before beginning his political career as the primary election coordinator for South Carolina[2] for Pat Buchanan's Presidential campaign in 1992. This experience led to his working in various Republican campaigns over the next few years. One of his candidates included Harold Worley, a Republican challenger to Senator Strom Thurmond in 1996."

(51 posts)STILL doing stand up comedy!. and like the REST of the Irrelephants, cannot defend against a well armed with the truth heckler. Their irrelephant slurs, canned slogans & scripted scrod are now being debunked at a high rate of speed. Their days of divide & conquer, & self serving elitism is coming to an END, but it doesn't end there...We must NEVER let up, EVER. What they do not understand is, that in spite all of the ugly, hateful & nasty these frogs have spewed for 50+ years, We STILL hold a place at the table for them, but We will not hold our collective breath. They're not going to like this half as much as they thought they would!

(592 posts)As I recently had a round of debate with a facebook friend who post a very right wing message about the Supreme Court hearing about Obama's birthplace and how the "Liberal Media" isn't covering it.
All I said was "Bill, you make it sound that being a Liberal is a bad thing.
OMGosh....Bill didn't respond much but his facebook friends did.... and they really took what I said and ran with it. Distorting it to being an attack on Bill. My response was much like what Mr. Higgins stated in the interview...that they create fear in people!! I continued with that they create false issues like "War on Xmas" or "War on Religion" ... Gay Marriage ... ect ect... that Obama had one time even been criticized for not saying "Terrorist" enough in his state of the union address. I brought up the names of right wing hate radio...
One poster brought up the breaking of the law...(not being born in the U.S.)
I responded... Don't EVEN bring up breaking of the law! Torture is Torture and I lived through 8 years of lie after lie after lie and 100s of thousands of people are dead because of it. Obama was raised in Hawaii, he graduated with honors from Harvard... instead of being a hot shot lawyer he chose to help the impoverished areas around Chicago. He seems to be a great husband and father...and against ALL ODDs he rose up and became President. I would think you would want to embrace such a man. ---
Anyway.. they finally admitted the media is what you take from it and it is up the each individual to determine what is being reported is truth or not.
I said... Exactly... Thank you.

(5,275 posts)Kudos to Mr. Higgins. Cenk, the head Young Turk, was on fire one day last week, it was as strident, angry, and to the point as I've seen him.
Somehow we need to get people to stop running interference, all the while against their own self interest, for zillionaires. It's time for them to wake up and open their eyes. To quit taking the constant untruths of Rush and Faux News as Gospel.
It's also time for non partisan mainstream news to quit the false equivalencies nonsense and call complete lies lies.

(81,130 posts)Take no prisoners. I also loved how Higgins DID NOT let that teabagger host get a word in edgewise. That's something that just drives me nuts watching some of the cable shows. Too many of OUR talking heads are still trying to be well-mannered. FUCK THAT. BE RUDE! Be loud! INTERRUPT, for God's Sake! Step on 'em. Talk over 'em. Butt in. Don't let them finish. Don't let them get even halfway through the cockamamie point they were going to make. It's probably just another lie anyway. Not worth allowing to get a full uninterrupted hearing, in the first place.

(25 posts)people who were crazy (Michelle Bachman), hateful (Rush Limbaugh), stupid (Congressman Akin), and liars (Mitt Romney) were ostracized even by Republicans.
Now that this ilk are embraced by the Republican party, people who are sane, decent, well-read, and honest should speak out against this nonsense in no uncertain terms!
No uncertain terms!

(1,372 posts)It occured to me that our ancestors came to America to get away from religious persecution and now we are facing the same religious persecution from the Teaparty. I believe in freedom of choice far all people. When a minority of people in a society tries to dictate how everyone should live and limits personal choice then they've gone too far. We need to reclaim freedom of choice and tell the teabaggers to live by the rules that they see fit and do not dictate to others. I do not belong to a conservative religious group and I do not feel compelled to abide by the rules of the conservative right. If you want to create restrictive laws - go back to Europe!

(1,185 posts)but it is discouraging that no one I know of on this side of The Pond, can speak as forcefully, with clarity and with such strength as the poor other guy couldn't even fold in his own ridiculous talking points. He'd get half a sentence out, but Michael Higgins cut him off and continued. It is an interview of rare beauty. I nominate him for our Left Wing Rush !!!
