Shouldn't one of the issues with Akin be sex ed?
I mean how in the heck can someone be 65 and not know how babies are created? Are we missing an opportunity to stress the necessity for sex ed in schools?

(5,756 posts)With core curriculum, pay for performance, NCLB, Race to the Top, Teach for America and charter schools we have "screwed the pooch" as we used to say back in TN. Our schools are no longer places of education where our kids learn.
If they are not just a business about numbers and statistics yet they soon will be.
I've seen some of those religious charter school textbook lessons on the origin of the moon and they are frightening.

(38,958 posts)if perhaps the Esteemed Mr. Akin had discovered some previously unknown form of birth control? Something that everyone else on the planet had completely missed. If so then perhaps he would then be in hot water with the folks attempting to limit access to birth control as well as abortion. But, then he stated he misspoke so now I just don't know what to believe from the candidate. I am soooooo confused
