Walmart Soon Selling Monsanto's Poison Corn

When bugs eat Monsanto's genetically-engineered corn, they die, and when Roundup is sprayed on Monsanto's Roundup resistant corn, the weeds around the corn die. And yet Monsanto's and Walmart's paid scientists say the corn is entirely safe for humans.

When the same corn was marketed in Europe with the mandated labels for genetically-modified food, no one bought it, just like no one would here if they knew. Since labeling became mandatory in Europe, these products are not even marketed in stores anymore.

Walmart, however, refuses to label its poison corn in the US, and Monsanto has launched a multi-million dollar campaign in California to block the labeling of its poison products in California supermarkets. They know that when consumers know, their gig is up...

You can fight back, however. Join the effort to make labeling mandatory. From AZGREEN:

Dear Friends,

The multinational biotech giant MONSANTO is the world’s leading producer of genetically modified seeds and crops, responsible for 90 percent of the genetically engineered seed on the United States market...

Monsanto, the company that brought the world Agent Orange, is also the creator of the best-selling herbicide Roundup...So far at least 8 insect populations have developed resistance, with 2 populations resistant to Bt sprays and at least 6 species resistant to Bt crops as a whole...Certain bacteria essential as “food-starters,” such as L cremoris, used in raw and fermented dairy products have begun to disappear in certain geographic regions. The cause has been found to be an element of Monsanto’s Roundup...

Monsanto has been caught running “slave-like” rings, holding off pay and forcing undocumented workers to buy their food only from the Monsanto company store. The company not only ‘hired’ all of the workers illegally, but prevented them from leaving the farm premises and withheld their salaries...

Monsanto effectively owns most US diplomats, and is currently using this political capital to start “Trade Wars” against Nations Opposed to Monsanto’s destructive policies...

If all that is true, I think one billboard in one city is a pretty weak push-back, actually.

1. Like I needed yet another reason to never shop at Walmart.

Sad though that so many millions have no choice, and will undoubtedly consume a lot of it.

11. You mean the whacky corporate republican conspiracy to feed Americans crappy GMO food?

I agree totally. It is an occult and skankyconspiracy. Thanks, Thug, for being part of the team to expose this corporate-Republican evil doing.

12. Well, the very idea that two gigantic exploitative global corporations might work together to

enhance each other's profits at the expense of people's wealth and health is just so far fetched that only the very looniest of loons would even consider it.

We have always been at war with Eastasia.

8. my takeaway: Corn- it kills bugs dead.

Seriously, I just assume all corn not *specifically*labelled "non GMO " is GMO.

13. Is this corn only sold at Walmart?

We've had some exquisitely sweet corn this summer, none of it from Walmart. I hope it doesn't disappear.

14. Uh, they've been selling GM corn for years now

As well as GM soy. Over 85% of all corn and soy grown in the US is now GM.

The VAST majority of corn and soy the average American eats is produced from GM corn, and has been for the past decade or more.

Even in Europe, they import millions of tons of US grain every year, and that is almost all GM at this point as well. You're closing the barn doors after the horses have already run, I'm afraid.

15. Well, Alzhiemer's and a host of other degenerative diseases have skyrocketed in incidence...

since the corporate barn doors were flung open 20 years ago, So it would behoove us to shut them -- or at a bare minimum to label the GMO crap oozing out of them so people could exercise their free will and either choose to eat it, or choose to avoid it.

16. the first GM corn (1998), starlink, was approved for animal feed & industrial uses only 14 years ago

http://tw3764.wikidot.com/group-3:article

most of the gm corn grown in the us is used for animal feed and industrial uses.

sweet corn is 1% of the us corn crop, & gm sweet corn had previously been only 3% of that.

gm corn in the food supply was previously limited to food products such as corn starch, etc.

Monsanto's corn is not the first genetically modified sweet corn to hit U.S. retail stores — Syngenta's version has been available for a decade and makes up about 3 percent of the market, according to the company — but it's the most controversial.

18. So 85% of all US corn is either animal feed or corn starch?

That number seems very high to me. Though, considering the widespread use of high-fructose corn syrup, that would probably funnel a lot of GM corn into the average person's diet.

20. Yes, and it's been that way for some time now. The VAST majority of corn

grown in the US is fed to animals. It is mixed with tens of millions of TONS of antibiotics as well, making livestock far, far and away the largest consumers of antibiotics.
