Born-again Christians in Iowa gave only 14 percent of their support to Willard, while Iowans who described themselves as "very conservative" gave him the very same, paltry 14%.

I'm sure there's some overlap there, but the salient fact remains: True Believers plain jus' don't like him.

(39,961 posts)He might get the nomination, but there is no way he can be elected without the evangelical vote, and he won't get it. People will stay home before voting for him.

(5,787 posts)Now I'm saying if he gets the nomination the one sure way to get these religious rights vote would be to choose one. Like Rubio out of Florida.

I don't know the second tier well enough to guess who that candidate might be, but would be interested in the opinions of others.
