Romney: Akin’s Comments ‘Insulting’ And ‘Inexcusable’

Mitt Romney sharpened his response to Rep. Todd Akin's (R-MO) "legitimate rape" comment Monday.

"Rep. Akin comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, wrong," Romney told National Review. "Like millions of other Americans, we found them to be offensive."

Romney said Akin's remarks were "entirely without merit and he should correct it."

1. Romney got his talking points

His initial reaction was "we disagree."

please tell us the difference between 'legitimate' and 'illegitimate' rape?

5. So, Mitt, how about Paul Ryan's co-authoring of the "legitimate rape" bill with Akin which

Akin was trying to rationalize. The bill is insulting and inexcusable too. Mitt, this won't go away.

7. "sharpened his response" meaning

his initial mealy mouthed non-response response didn't play well.

This man is entirely driven by others' opinions and is guided by his handlers.

disgusting.

8. I think Akin will be forced out now...

I don't see how Romney's criticism, which could be used in negative ads, is compatible with Akin running a competitive race. Still, Akin might hang on out of stubbornness.

9. No, Willard, he should NOT "correct" it. You don't "correct" comments like that. You resign.

He spoke his mind. Let him stick by what he said. And then withdraw from public life.

10. But we'll let him stay in the race and get his ass handed to him...

...and take a few more repugs down with him.

14. Of course Romney didn't like it. He is pro-choice.

At least he always was before running for President.
