Romney: Ryan No Longer Supports His Plan’s Medicare Cuts

Romney: Ryan No Longer Supports His Plan’s Medicare Cuts

Sahil Kapur

<...>

“Well, first of all, Congressman Ryan has joined my campaign and his campaign is my campaign now. And we’re on the exactly the same page,” Romney told CBS News. “And my campaign has made it very clear: The president’s cuts of $716 billion to Medicare — those cuts are going to be restored if I become president and Paul Ryan becomes vice president.”

Mittwit, attempting to run away from his own running mate's plan, just claimed Ryan's campaign is "my campaign now."

In any case, focus on what he's advocating. Since the President closed the donut hole saving seniors billions, Mitt is promising to re-open it costing seniors billions.

so you can throw it to your billionaire buddies and laugh about it - but the real voters vote, and many of us are on Medicare or on Social Security or depend on it.

I guarantee you, this will be the most lopsided victory for Obama since Reagan's near-landslide in '84.

Or rather, "Lie and Liar."

The president’s cuts of $716 billion to Medicare — those cuts are going to be restored if I become president and Paul Ryan becomes vice president.

"Dubious"

Romney's $716B Medicare cut attack is dubious

--excerpt--

The Romney campaign says that means the Obama adminsitration<sic> is cutting Medicare. Today, the president called it savings.

"I proposed reforms that will save Medicare money, by getting rid of wasteful spending in the health care system, reform that will not touch your Medicare benefits, not by a dime," Mr. Obama said.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, it's not the patients who would lose money. It's the providers.

The president's changes mean the annual increases insurance companies receive will be trimmed; hospital reimbursement rates would be reduced; and payments to home health care workers will also be cut back.

In fact, vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan's proposed budget contains these same reductions, something CBS News asked Governor Romney about today.

"Well, first of all, Congressman Ryan has joined my campaign and his campaign is my campaign now. And we're on the exactly the same page. And my campaign has made it very clear: The president's cuts of $716 billion to Medicare -- those cuts are going to be restored if I become president and Paul Ryan becomes vice president."

The Congressional Budget Office concluded the cuts -- which do not come out of the Medicare trust fund -- actually make Medicare more efficient and extend the life of the program. Additionally, all but four members of the house GOP voted for those same cuts in passing Ryan's budget plan.

In one breath, they say, "Medicare is on the verge of bankruptcy! Something needs to be done about it!"
In the next breath they say, "We'll eliminate Obama's $716 billion in cost cuts and put those costs back into Medicare!"

is still acknowledgment of being on the defense, on the ropes, staggering from a self-inflicted TKO.

Logical fallacies people apprehend immediately. "Forget the authoritative absolutist statement I made yesterday and believe me now. I have changed. Believe that you must- or else I'll send my wife out to defend me."

Do you long for the good old days when some unsubstantive slip of the tongue cost an election? Or are our best days still ahead of us?
