commercial free. Too much stupid without a break. They killed this show before it even got started. My bet - the first cancellation of the season.

NBC has tried again and again over the years to use the Olympics as a launch pad for other programming. But do you remember Father Of The Pride in 2004? Or Conviction in 2006? Didn't think so. Both are examples of shows that failed to take off after being heavily promoted during Olympic coverage.
(All Things Considered, 8/10/12)

Same happened with The Marriage Ref (2010).

Also NPR.org ran this AP article that reports:

A former cast mate of Perry, Matt LeBlanc, can attest to the uncertain outcome of Olympic-sized promotion. "Joey," LeBlanc's spinoff from "Friends," was heavily trumpeted during the 2004 Games but struggled through an unimpressive two-season run.

Another also-ran was "Father of the Pride," a much-anticipated DreamWorks animated comedy that debuted after the '04 Olympics to an audience of 12.4 million. It went on to average a lackluster 7 million weekly viewers and lasted one season.

There's a potential attention gap facing "Go On" and "Animal Practice," which won't return until next month to claim their regular slots. "Go On" will begin airing at 9 p.m. EDT Tuesday, Sept. 11, with "Animal Practice" starting 8 p.m. EDT Wednesday, Sept. 26.

The Olympics were fanastic...NBC's coverage was not...

Daltry can still sing fairly well. I'm surprised he hasn't ripped his vocal chords.

i understand wanting ratings. but there are times where people will let go of some profit to allow for certain special moments or events to be enjoyed by more people. shouldn't the olympics be one of those things ?

they will still make a lot of money.

NBC censored Muse, too. Did you hear that Muse would perform during the Closing Ceremonies? Ever find them? If not, that's because Dick Ebersol censored their performance. Ray Davies, too.

This was a purely stupid move on Comcast's part.

First of all there was no need to air a 90 minute special on the amount of Gold Medals the US won over the last 16 days. We just watched it the last 16 days. They could have aired the Closing Ceremony at 7p and none of this crap would have happened. Just more filler and less real production.

Oh and for the love of all that is holy - someone take the mike away from Ryan Seacrest. I didn't need to hear his commentary anymore than Bob Costas
