In the last 92 years, only ONE losing vice presidential nominee ever went on to anything better.

That would be Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the losing Democratic vice presidential nominee in 1920 who got elected president 12 years later. Only a few others, such as Bob Dole primarily, even won their party's nomination after losing as a VP candidate. So those of you who are saying that Ryan has nothing to lose by having his name attached to a failed ticket are simply incorrect, unless, of course, he has no interest in ever running for president in the future.
