2. Who Did September 11th if Not "Al Qaeda"?

If there's no Al Qaeda, there's at least somebody with the ability to carry out a September 11th type attack. Who are these people?

6. I was always more LIHOP than MIHOP

And I had always known AQ was a ghost... It's just refreshing to finally hear it put out propoerly in the media.

I'm a bit depressed that no-one's pushing this more.

25. I know. I wish the whole damned thing would blow wide open

LIHOP or MIHOP, we want the truth. We haven't gotten it with the official conspiracy theory released to us.

If this and the Sandusky (as in connection to the white house child prostitute story) would open up and be exposed completely, I would be not just a happy camper, but an ecstatic camper.

26. Careful news cycle management is what keeps crushing these stories.

I can't help but think that something has to be done about the whole concept of a "news cycle"...

7. "The Power of Nightmares" says it was a small group.

NOT the international terrorist organization in 70 countries as depicted by the Bush Administration.

Hell, they made it sound like Spectre in the James Bond movies.

It was more like a small biker gang.

15. Let's think this through.

People who could get NORAD to be completely ineffectual.
People who could claim ignorance of the possibility of an air-attack while simultaneously holding war-games depicting the identical scenario.
People who could know which side of the Pentagon had the fewest employees.
People who could make sure that WTC-7 also fell.
People who could assure GWB that he'd be in no danger as he sat in a publicly-announced meeting in a Florida school.
People who could stop the inquiries of Sybil Edmonds.
People who could destroy the work of Valerie Plame.
People who could ignore PDB's about Bin Laden.
People who could destroy structural evidence by sending it to Fresh Kills landfill.
People who could.............

5. "Al Qaeda" was a database of radical Islamists compiled by the CIA to fight the USSR in Afghanistan.

It's not an organization - it's a rolodex.

12. thank you.. exactly what it was.

It's real... just the CIA's list of friendly's.. and they went "rogue".

Not one soldier can say what their mission is or who the actual enemy is in Aghanistan? None. No one knows.. Other than it make military contractors happy to be making money.

17. Plus, all the shit they used on foreign enemies is coming home now to be used on us

The manless drones, the sound blasting devices for crowd control, the over weaponized police in battle gear armed to the teeth against, for the most part, peaceful protestors.

I often wonder where are all the 2nd amendment lovers when the police are taking up arms against peaceful protestors in the streets? Isn't that their big reason for keeping weapons? So much for keeping the Govt at bay... Guess the Americans being attacked are the "wrong" kind of Americans for them.. Or they are just the coward wusses that dodged the draft or didn't volunteer to serve in the military that we know them to be.... They would still be the first to run to the hills or lay down in front of the enemy and give out all their state secrets for favorability and keeping their selves alive.

18. "where are all the 2nd amendment lovers when the police are taking up arms...

against peaceful protestors"

As far as I'm concerned that was the entire purpose of the War on Terror, to develop revolution-crushing strategies for domestic use.

The 2nd amendment people are a slippery crowd. I've never managed to get any sense out of them.

You talk about overthrowing them and you might run the risk of disappearing.

8. "NOW"? The film clip is from "The Power of Nightmares".

BBC put it out years ago. It's in 3 parts, and available from Netflix. (edit: and online. Google it)

It starts out with revolutionary Islam's evolution from the '50's. And their spiritual twins, the Neocons.

Well worth watching.

Awesome source. It's from user doomdaily, who appears to be a nutcase, conspiracy theory, climate-change denier.

They're all over climategate, and "Obamacare is eugenics" too. Good job bringing the "truth" to DU.

21. The title isn't true

Adam Curtis does not say "Al Qaeda never existed". He says that the name was given to it by the American prosecutors. He said it was "a loose association of disillusioned Islamist militants", and that, after Sept 11, bin Laden started using the name himself, for the group he funded and tied together.
