Ann Coulter tears the mask off FOX.

Ann Coulter tears the mask off FOX.
by 8ackgr0und N015e

...........................................

Watch what Ann shouts at 00:35, while Hannity desperately tries to get her back on message after she tells the handful of big money donors bankrolling this whole carnival of clowns they should cut off their funding for Romney:

VIDEO: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/08/09/1118188/-Ann-Coulter-tears-the-mask-off-FOX

I'm serious. THERE IS NO POINT TO YOU DOING YOUR SHOW. There is no point to us going to a convention and pushing for this man if he is employing morons like this.

Now, folks who have been paying attention for the last fifteen years or so will not be surprised to learn that FOX is nothing but the propaganda wing of the Republican Party. Yes, I know we all suspected it -- some of us were even adamant about it.

But that is something they have STRENUOUSLY denied over the years. Everyone from Roger Ailes to Hannity to O'Reilly to Wallace to the FOX and Friends on the couch crowd have ALL, at various time, denied they were really mere partisan Republicans. They knew that was a damaged and discredited brand. They knew letting folks in on the joke would crush their ratings among the masses of low-information voters. No, they were better than that. They were CONSERVATIVES. That was the all-important identifier. Everyone else was that ignominious thing known as "liberal."

How ironic this happens at the hands She Who Foams at the Mouth. In her moment of rage, Ann has summarily stripped Hannity of that fig leaf. AND HE AGREED WITH HER. Listen to the exchange again. When she says:

THERE IS NO POINT TO YOU DOING YOUR SHOW.

Hannity replies:

I AGREE WITH YOU.

26. Are you now trying to minimize

the fact that your derisive post about Coulter's looks is sexist? I've seen this disgusting post (from you?) before, and it is no less offensive now--I've just had enough of sexism, especially here on DU.

For examples of this type of sexism among conservatives, which we routinely decry, go here and also here.

I am beginning to suspect that sexism is such a pervasive part of our patriarchal society it has become normative, even among liberals and Democrats.

I doubt you'd post an unflattering picture of your mother next to an unflattering picture of ANY animal.

40. We,

as in the DUer with whom I'm having this particular discussion and myself.

Sexism is hatred of/bias towards a gender as a whole, and/or the application of gender stereotypes. Likening women to dogs is, historically, a gender stereotype.

I have been an advocate for survivors of relationship violence for over thirty years. I can assure you: this and all other forms of sexism remain a big issue, because these little instances of sexism are a fundamental underpinning of all relationship violence. Batterers find it much easier to assault or justify their verbal bullying when they objectify or belittle their partners.

What daffy universe do you live in, where someone make's silly pictures of someone who is demonstrably bat-shit-crazy, and you instantly throw down the 'sexist' card. Seriously, describe this universe. I want to see some kind of serious attempt at justifying that ANY criticism of ANY woman is sexism. Do it.

He made a silly picture, that was insulting, and a bit mean spirited TO ANN COULTER and no one else. His picture did not say women are like this, his picture said ANN COULTER is like this. There isn't the slightest hint, no matter the amount of reaching on your part, of sexism in the post you are crying about.

Unless of course, you identify strongly with Ann Coulter. Then maybe there is a reason for the poster to apologize. Otherwise no.

45. Wow...

So, you feel the need to completely denigrate me, and to assert that "(t)here isn't the slightest hint, no matter the amount of reaching on your part, of sexism in the post you are crying about"?

Again, I have been an advocate for survivors of relationship violence for over thirty years. I can assure you: this and all other forms of sexism remain a big issue, because these little instances of sexism are a fundamental underpinning of all relationship violence. Batterers find it much easier to assault--or justify their relentless verbal bullying--when they objectify or belittle their partners.

Also, the links I provided illustrate conservatives' use of this gender stereotype, as well as the perceptions of sexism by those on the left decrying such behavior.

Moreover, Sexism is hatred of/bias toward a gender as a whole, and/or the application of gender stereotypes. Likening women to dogs is, historically, a gender stereotype.

I find it rather patronizing of you to describe my assertion as 'crying about,' but I must say it doesn't surprise me.

Are you suggesting that Ann Coulter is somehow symbolic of the 4 billion or so women on earth?

That an insult to this pathetic excuse for a human being is somehow a slap in the face to womanhood in general?

If so, that seems like a generalization or even, sexist in itself.

93. Actually,

I did about nine months of informal research on the internet because I have long suspected that the anonymity of the internet encourages or enables people to indulge in derisive, discourteous, sarcastic, sexist, and often vulgar discourse. I stopped after I began seeing multiple OP-EDs about that very subject. I felt that our species' macro-consciousness was already on target with addressing this issue.

I then considered creating a group to advocate for diplomacy on the internet (I thought we might call ourselves 'Grandparents for Civility in Public and Political Discourse,' but the acronym GCPPD just didn't resonate). But, too many of the people I approached enjoy indulging in derisive, vulgar, discourteous, patronizing, condescending and/or divisive discourse.

At this point, I think I am tilting at windmills, but I still hope that we can learn to express our opinions and ideologies without indulging in sexism, sarcasm, derision, or vulgarity. As I've said before, I think we diminish ourselves by indulging in sexism, derision, sarcasm and condescension.

Clearly, your post exemplifies the very issues about which I have commented, so I don't think you'll be interested in anything I have said. I do ask that you recognize that your wee bon mot "just sayin'" is an unnecessary condescension.

I wonder if this connotes intellectual laziness, or if such responders are reaching for that Warholian Brass Ring (the DUzy Awards lend weight to that likelihood...).

I am not, nor have I ever been a troll. You might consider a different response to the DUers with whom you disagree. Just because I have a position with which you (and others) take issue does not make me a "concern troll."

97. Interesting...

Seems quite a stretch to throw out that wee accusation...

I've heard countless survivors of relationship violence describe verbal and emotional abuse wherein their abusers routinely called them dogs--and insisted they would 'never attract another man.' I've seen screeds about Rush Limbaugh and other conservative pundits, accusing them of sexism for likening women to dogs.

I have done years of research on gender issues. I have done years of advocacy for survivors of relationship violence. I know from both personal and professional experience that the historically sexist 'woman as dog' meme is still prevalent, even here on DU.

I grieve that so many of us have grown inured to such derogatory messages--so much so that we become uncomfortable with the person who points out the sexism, rather than with the person who acts in a sexist manner.

64. I still think the Jon Stewart depiction of

Senator Lieberman as Droopy Dog is spot on. Although, historically, I'd disagree that women have been linked more to dogs except for the b word. And calling men bastards and sonsofbitches has always been the choice of insults since it profanes the man's mother, which conversely wouldn't dent the reputation of the men she associated with. We've mostly been treated and depicted as brood mares and cows, which is to say, property. Dogs being domesticated as pets were probably allowed more freedom. With our reproductive choices and lifestyles being challenged, we are being depicted today as women of loose morals, but you have your strong opinions and others have theirs. I personally did find the photo of Coulter next to the dog offensive. To the dog.

that pointing out other instances of animal/human comparisons mitigates this instance? Perhaps you might consider perusing the literature on sexism to refute or support your contention that, historically, women haven't been "linked more to dogs except for the b word." You might also consider why it is so important for you to react defensively to my assertion.

Also, a friend of mine agrees with you that the post is offensive to the dog. I'm sure my dog would not appreciate being depicted as a human, 'ugly' or not.

Is it possible to insult an individual, without it being sexist? I'm not sure if you are jumping into this thread or an alter-ego of chervalent. I personally find it ridiculous that a negative comment against a specfic woman appears to be an attack on all women in some people's eyes. Peel off some Romney votes. The wing nuts all hate Romney and see him as a jackass. Encourage them to stay true to their values and vote Libertarian, Constitution Party, or some other party.

7. How sweet it is..!

This is wonderful ~ let them be like crabs in a barrel.

Looks good on Rushbuddies to get so frustrated that he/they actually told the truth for a change.

My question is ~ it is hard to believe that she would say that with such inoccence. Was she seeing the handwriting on the wall and figured she would be fired and then go try to go over to our side -- ?

Did her IQ suddenly get below ten or was she saying what Rmoney wanted her to say ~ can't think that he would want her to tell the truth.

Don't get it at all

17. She Is Setting Herself Up As The Great Predictor.....

Didn't she say something to the effect that if Rmoney is the Repug nominee - they would lose in November.

Given the campaign that Rmoney has run since his nomination - it looks like her prediction will come through. This was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

This tirade she had will go a long way in making her prediction come true. Then when she comes on Faux News - she could say - see I told you so.

She then thinks more people will listen to her dribble and buy her books. She will make a buck of of this - you can bet on it.

I sometimes go on her site. During the entire spring primary season, she was nothing but a Romney supporter. Now it looks like she's ready to throw him under a bus, too. I'd really like to see her run for office and see how little support for her opinions the average American actually has.

33. Bearing false witness in exchange for money.

It starts at the top in our society and works it way down to the bottom. At every step you will find people willing to lead their country & people astray for a few dollars. From politics to military to media to banking to insurance to education to sales. One big orgy of people at each others throats trying to pinch a little off any poor soul who passes by. They will do & say anything for a dollar. If you point it out to them they will shrug and say "Everyone does it.".
Sure, everyone like you does it. So many people do it now it is just considered being driven to succeed.
Money motivated = willing to say or do anything for a dollar.

But it does nothing to educate the 20 or so % of the country that supports the 1%. They're all blinded by the idea that they will be in the 1% if they "work hard" and that the poor are stealing all their money.

78. I think it's unlikely

This "Dead heat" thing is a useful kabuki- it's a way to make it look like the country is equally divided and that only the "moderate(ly crazy) position" is the only way we can move forward.

So far this has come straight out of the playbook, with the appropriate signals. Romney has no chance of securing the nomination, Bush Sr. indicates his support, suddenly Romney is the only choice. President Obama is giving them everything they could want AND someone to blame it on(like Clinton), so Romney is set up to fail (like Dole). President Obama gets 4 more years and inducted into the Crime Family as a Jr. Member(like Clinton). Afterwards we will "miraculously" get Jeb Bush or someone else from the dynasty.

That's my prediction, but since I made it (with help from posts by other DUers) before any of this fell into place, I'm pretty sure this is what it will look like come Nov. on.

plays well to the majority of the zombified Hoi Polloi, many of whom spend countless hours ensconced in front of their television(s).

When I consider one of my fave Gandhi quotes ("We must be the change we hope to see in this world."), I am overwhelmed with resignation. I now realize I can only manifest a 'revolution by one,' and do whatever I can to respect myself, our species, this earth, and the events we're about to witness.

I could and should google something, but Im recalling that he has raised money and campaigned for people. I would put him in a different category then most people on Fox, in that he is perhaps the biggest, most blatant, and unapologetic shill. I don't think the comments are shocking...its not a secret real or imagined that he uses his show to support the republicans.....

91. I'm standing up for Coulter, Hannity and all Conservatives

I can't believe I typed that but there it is...

These folks, the Repub party in general, NEVER wanted RMoney as a candidate. They don't view him as true conservative, they think he is a liberal in sheep's clothing. He comes across as just as disingenuous to them as he does to us. They fear he is a loser candidate and was one from the very beginning but somewhere along the line, someone made the decision that he was going to be "the" guy. I don't know if it's because they consider him a throwaway candidate, meaning they expect to lose this election, so they held back a real candidate or their party is in such disarray that they don't have any real contenders for the job. Let's face it, when TeaBagger's start to make Ann Coulter look sane, you know the Repub party has jumped the shark.
