Local wingnut arrested for child pornography

"Authorities arrested a 70-year-old Bogart man Monday for allegedly viewing child pornography last week inside the Oconee County Library.

Budge Earl Williams, of 830 Fowler Mill Road, was charged with criminal attempt to commit sexual exploitation of a minor, Watkinsville Police Chief Lee O’Dillon said.

Williams, a former columnist for the Athens Banner-Herald, was in the library Wednesday using a computer to view and print pictures of “very young boys in sexually explicit conduct,” according to the arrest warrant.

The investigation started after patrons complained to library staff that they walked by Williams and saw pictures of a pornographic nature on the computer he was using, O’Dillon said"

This guy wrote a right wing column in the local paper for years.

Williams is a nasty piece of work.

9. You'd be surprised what all happens in a library. I've worked in libraries for a decade including

the UGA library maybe 10 miles from where this happened. In addition to catching library patrons viewing porn (which is pretty common, sadly), I've seen a man bathing himself with water from the toilet, found human sexuality textbooks in the restrooms with all the explicit pictures dogeared, recovered all manner of strange things from the book drop (including unopened beers, white supremacist literature, and a bag of what we suspected to be urine). My female co workers have reported being flashed numerous times.

Once my supervisor and I confronted a guy who moved a table next to the door for the women's bathroom and would hit on women and look at them suspiciously. Later that day he moved the table back ad we had to confront him a second time.

Theres something about libraries that attracts the crazies, for better or worse.
