Are Mitt's polls bad enough to consider Christie?

Maybe... but I doubt it.

The vast Christie luv is an internal Republican party thing. It is not a given that Christie would delight and inspire the nation (by telling it to shut up)

Also, Christie is way too liberal.

I'd guess no on Christie... Mitt is nothing if not cautious. (Christie would not carry NJ for Mitt, so there's little direct upside.)

fifty pounds, at least, and "modulate his tone." Then he can have a shot at national office. I still don't see him heading the ticket, though. He's just too frigging mean.

Of course, I could be wrong.

However, every time I see him getting mad, he's sweating profusely, yelling/screaming, and he looks like he's ready to have a heart attack or bust a blood vessel.

He won't help the ticket one bit. No one needs an over bearing bully with a "my way or the highway" attitude. He adds nothing.

which is causing his tough guy persona. It wouldn't take much to crack that exterior. Another reason that I doubt he will be the VP pick.

Hence the surprising part. And teh argument can be that if he is popular in NJ, he can have broad appeal.

Won the election due to Corzine's issues with whatever he did that is probably sending him to prison.
Not as many, but there's corrupt Dems too.

That's not bad, I guess. He's certainly not wildly popular, but anything above 50 is pretty much solid support.

I grew up in New England (but have lived in WA for 19 years) and am pretty comfortable with the cultural & communication-style differences between the two areas.

Truthfully, watching Christie is a little like watching 'Jersey Shore.' He comes across as more vulgar and just sort of nasty in the way he communicates.

Maybe Jindal or even Scott Walker? Guess we'll know pretty soon.

Word today is Portman's wikipedia entry has had major revisions today just like Palin's did in 2008. In all likelihood he really is the pick and I'll be extremely relieved. I don't even think he'll help in Ohio, much less anywhere else.
