Romney Ad Attacks Obama On Welfare: ‘You Wouldn’t Have To Work’

Romney Ad Attacks Obama On Welfare: ‘You Wouldn’t Have To Work’

Pema Levy

Rather than trying to shift the election narrative back to the economy, the Romney campaign is out with a new attack on President Obama. Riding a wave of conservative outrage against a little-noticed Department of Health and Human Services memo last month, the Romney campaign is attacking Obama for ending “welfare as we know it.”

The new argument allows Romney to paint Obama as a big-government liberal while shifting the narrative away from specifics of his tax plan and own tax returns.

“Under Obama’s plan, you wouldn’t have to work and wouldn’t have to train for a job,” says the narrator of a new ad from both the Romney campaign and the RNC. “They just send you your welfare check.”

“Mitt Romney will restore the work requirement because it works,” the narrator concludes the ad.

Such a douche, always will be. Not an honorable man or potential leader.

He's got nothing so instead of actually coming up with alternative solutions to real problems, he elects to sling poop.

I've got no respect for Romney nor the entire Republican Party.

You and your ilk manage the economy so that 20% of working age, able-bodied people are out of work.

Labor force participation rate, the percentage of working age persons who are employed.

Forcing people to work when there are no jobs is simply an excuse to let them starve.

Meanwhile, Mitt & 20 something other GOP Governors championed this idea to give states more control over welfare requirements. Mitt's hypocrisy NEVER ENDS!

http://thehill.com/blogs/healthwatch/other/238883-sebelius-welfare-policy-change-strengthens-work-requirement

In a letter to two prominent lawmakers, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said the waivers states can apply for will not change requirements in the 1996 welfare reform law that mandate recipients find work in order to qualify for help.

Republicans have argued the new waivers could undercut the work requirements, but Sebelius said they merely allow states to develop new approaches for meeting the work requirements.
"The department is providing a very limited waiver opportunity for states that develop a plan to measurably increase the number of beneficiaries who find and hold down a job," Sebelius wrote to Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-Mich.).

"Our goal is to accelerate job placement by moving more Americans from welfare to work," Sebelius wrote. "No policy which undercuts that goal or waters down work requirements will be considered or approved."
