"Harry Reid made a statement that is true. Somebody told him. It is a fact," Pelosi said to The Huffington Post on Sunday. "Whether he did or not can easily be disposed of: Mitt Romney can release his tax returns and show whether he paid taxes."
Reid has refused to say who told him the story and has offered no evidence it is true.
Earlier on Sunday Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) both strongly criticized Reid's claim. Priebus called Reid a "dirty liar" for the accusation.
When asked about Priebus's comment, Pelosi initially said "Who?"

(546 posts)I think that the stakes in this election cannot be higher and that Romney would be a disaster as President but is this the kind of politics we want to encourage? I'm uneasy.
Why it fair to use an unidentified source as grounds for an accusation?
Is it not some sort of rhetorical fallacy to cite the true fact that someone told you something as a justification for repeating what they said?
Isn't that what people do when they spread rumors?
Just asking.

because the stakes are so high I would think most would applaud Reid for his courage rather that sit back like a pretend Jesus turning cheeks.
