For the second time this morning watching the Olympics, I just saw the Romney ad that edits Obama's speech to say: "If you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own... If you've got a business, you didn't build that." Followed, of course, by a Joe-the-Plumber type saying: "My fathers hands didn't build this business? My hands didn't build this business?"
I knew Romney was dishonestly quoting the "if you've got a business" out of context, but blatantly editing out the part of the speech that says what it was "you didn't build" is a whole 'nother level of sleazy distortion. In 50 years of watching political ads, I have simply seen any ads that are so brazenly and shamelessly dishonest as the one Romney is approving.

(53,410 posts)What else can they do? They did the same thing with the "Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life" half quote. It's like being in junior high all over again.
Wheres the jobs?

(1,374 posts)The "you didn't build that" lie is the only one that's gained any traction so Rmoney has made it the focus of his dishonest campaign.
They also recently tried to take Obama out of context with another ad:

Even Romney's first ad for the 2012 campaign blatantly took an Obama quote out of context:

This is the most dishonorable campaign for president I've ever witnessed. I think it's going to backfire big time. People are sick and tired of lying politicians and Rmoney is the worst. On top of that he's the ultimate empty suit because nobody can tell what he really stands for.
As more and more of Rmoney's lies get exposed and the truth slowly filters into the public consciousness he will find himself in big trouble by November. At least that's my hope - but I'm really not sure how much hope to put into the American people's ability to discern truth from fiction. All they really have to do is pay attention to see Mitt is completely full of shit.

(14,177 posts)Since then the rw has become so rabid I have fled farther to the left. If they keep it up no telling I might become an out and out anarchist or something. Any way, back then I had my eyes out for anyone that appeared to be a moderate so Mitt got on my radar and I did a bit of checking and he disgusted me then. He is the worst excuse of a human being that I can think of. He is the worst candidate the rwers could have chosen. He might even be worst than bat shit crazy eyes Bachmann. Ok that one is a coin toss. But he is seriously a really really bad person. I am not voting against him because I disagree with his politics which is usually why I vote against candidates. I am going to vote against him because he is a disgusting vile horribly bad human being. I would vote him out of the country if I could. He should be alone on an island somewhere he is not fit for human company. That being said I think his attack ads are weak. The only people buying his crap are the people that would vote for him anyway.

(20,996 posts)I mean, Paul Ryan proved he can lie with the best of them.
Perhaps if the rethuglicans in Congress were ACTUALLY COMMITTED to helping this country recover, instead of only being committed to making sure President Obama was a one term President.
This recesssion WAS CAUSED BY RETHUGLICANS, and is the number one reason there are no jobs.
Maybe our little visitor here should ask Mitch McConnell: where are the jobs?
