It’s hard to add much to the many fine obituaries of Gore Vidal, although I will say I envied his skill in kneecapping hypocrites, his erudition, and his wonderfully theatrical speaking style. Below are links and videos.

2. Yes..he will be missed terribly. I thought that when Zinn died..

and it just keeps coming the voices we are losing that we need so much today.

Hopefully those who read them will continue in younger voices. It's all we have so much hope for.

the "wisdom of elders" carried down!

I am hopeful. Or, try to be!

the fight will never end. Once folks understand this, it becomes the fight and what needs to be done becomes much more clear.

There are other great voices, but they don't get heard.

But every blowhard liar without conscience gets hours of airtime.

I can't understand why nobody seems to care about Gore's passing.

6. Here...it didn't got much attention although others posted

it went off to archives. On some of the real Dem Blogs that are left (very few) there were many replies listing his books and admiring him.

It's just what it is these days. People move on...but, in some quarters they are still appreciated and remembered. It's just getting harder and harder to find the appreciation for some of the "old philosophers and activists from way back. imho...anyway.
