Mitt Romney is gripped with fear about releasing his tax returnsLast edited Thu Aug 2, 2012, 06:07 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
Flashback to this claim by Abby Huntsman, Jon Huntsman's daughter:
In fact, according to people close to the situation, Romney would drop out of the presidential race before ever releasing further tax returns.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/abby-huntsman/mitt-romney-tax-returns_b_1675711.html On edit, Mitt's own comments certainly add credibility to the claim: Romney Suggests Releasing Additional Tax Returns Could Be Politically Damaging http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/07/16/519241/romney-suggests-releasing-additional-tax-returns-could-be-politically-damaging/ What the hell is Mitt hiding?

2. 100 days or less to go!
|
Time to stop gloating about this dumby losing and focus on getting out the vote!
If you haven't already talked to your local Senator/Congressperson running for office, give them a call today. We need boots on the ground to canvas, work the phones, etc. I'm in Massachusetts, Ms. Warren deserves a fighting chance. |

5. The slow motion death of this campaign is ...
|
...pretty enjoyable! I cannot WAIT for the first books, around the middle of Obama's second term, providing an "insider account" of the failed Romney campaign and who's at fault and how out of touch he really was behind the scenes, as his lifelong megalomaniacal obsession for the ultimate position of power was slowly, excruciatingly ripped from his grasp.

6. Its all about his Planet
|
Its not about Privacy, the Presidency or even politics. Its all about his Planet. Romney knows if he releases his tax returns he loses his Planet. (Unless of course he can retroactively regain compliance with the Elders.)

Do they have someone in the wings to replace Romney? Some unknown we will not have time to fully vet before the elections?
I would not put it past them. |

15. There is absolutely no chance Romney will make it past the convention....
|
I'm guessing he'll either drop out of the race or will be removed by the powers that be.

Last edited Fri Aug 3, 2012, 09:51 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) that Axelrod already has a file on them, with more pieces of paper being added every day. Anyone NOT well-enough known to merit an oppo.research file, will be so inadequate to the task of pulling this out that Team Obama will finish this with their EYES CLOSED.
Coulter was RIGHT. (and yes saying that with a straight face makes me feel all weird inside) ON EDIT... It occurs to me that MAYBE Ron Paul could pull a party nomination out of this. He won't win (he's too much into the idea we should leave Iran the hell alone for way too many neoCon wannabee Republicans to feel comfortable voting for him) but it WOULD make for very interesting debate topics, that COULD serve to drive the Democratic Party back to the left on issues of PERSONAL liberty (the failed Drug War, Due Process, etc.). It would be a debate I would PAY money to see, because I think we would get to see the difference between Obama the Constitutional Law Professor, and Obama the President (who, at times and by necessity, makes policy decisions based on POLITICAL calculations), and the line that the man has decided to draw between the two, based on not much more than what he considers to be his own good judgment, and the judgments of people he trusts. I know others here will disagree with the above assessment, and that's fine, but I would consider it a very useful intellectual exercise that I kind of think the Party needs to have with itself. |

19. The Focus on the returns could come from a different angle, too ...
|
In ten years of returns, focus could also be placed on what his specific investments were.
In the world of global finance and investment, it could be some foreign investments could be either embarrassing or even violate some US embargoes and sanctions. If he invested in a French or other european firm that supplied nuclear technology or centrifuge parts to Iran. Or violating the embargo to Cuba, or North Korea. There are any number of possibilities of investments that would appeal to a global investor, that would be very unattractive if you were running for president. Though it could be monetary concerns like paying little or no taxes, it could also be in what, and where he was invested, if the money was repatriated or stashed, and at what time he was invested in foreign companies, in relation to past foreign policy. The possibilities are endless, and could conceivably include trading with the enemy in a convoluted fashion. That has been known to happen in the past, Prescot comes to mind. |
