Does anyone know why gas has gone up 55-65 cents in two days?Last edited Thu Aug 2, 2012, 05:55 PM USA/ET - Edit history (2)
On Tuesday it was 3.45 a gallon now it is up to 3.99- 4.09. What happened, another refinery conveniently catch fire? Maybe a pipline burst? Or was it Rmoney's overseas trip and his warmongering the cause?

7. They'll switch over to gasohol in a lot of states in another 3 months
|
and they're gouging us now to pay for the ethanol then. That's my best guess.
In addition, big money went into oil futures again a week and a half ago. They're up and when they go up, so does the price at the pump. |

and in Lemont, IL and some pipeline problem in Wisconsin, I believe.
Our gas prices were 3.99 yesterday, but you can be assured, they'll be over 4.00 again by tomorrow! |

10. it never dropped below $3.99 here in coastal northern california....

Last edited Thu Aug 2, 2012, 06:31 PM USA/ET - Edit history (3) Eureka CA routinely has the highest gas prices of any municipality in the lower 48 states, according to the AAA. The retailers are not making any money, yet one can buy regular unleaded two hours distant in Weaverville, where fuel is trucked from the north coast terminal, for fifteen cents a gallon less than here on the north coast where it is unloaded directly from tankers. The lowest gas price I've seen (other than at Costco, which admits to selling gas at cost to bring folks to the store) is $3.97. While gas prices everywhere else in the country fell to below $3.50, they never budged much below $4 here. It sucks.

I think in April it was down to 3.18, then it skyrocketed just like this.

17. Prelude to the election

We already know the Koch brothers manipulate the oil market for their own devices (if you want to argue with me, Google "Koch contango" first). The only reason oil came down at the beginning of the "summer driving season" was so that they could jack the price up to new heights in the fall.
Starting around Labor day, be prepared for some wild days in the crude oil market. While a couple hundred million is pocket change to Charles and David, they are going to combine two of their favorite activities, jacking up the oil market and blaming it on Obama. Just watch, I'll bet gasoline is over $5 a gallon in late October. Even if they don't sink Obama, this next manipulation escapade should net them a couple more billion for the family fortune. |
