How many guys who reached puberty in the late 60's
... had a thing for actress Angela Cartwright, who played the younger sister on Lost in Space? She was only a few years older than I, and I think my entire female aesthetic (short, small, long dark hair...) was formed because I was noticing her interesting bits just as I noticed that I had an interesting bit.
We talk of Ginger and Mary Ann (and Jeannie, who takes the crown), but I wonder how many guys were weird like me, and thought little Penny Robinson was just the girl I wanted under the Christmas tree? But I didn't like her big sister at all. And anyway, she was already taken. -- Mal

Elinor Donahue played her in "Father Knows Best"
Okay, so I am a tad older. Puberty in 1960 or so. Still she actually did Star Trek in one episode. Remember? "Metamophosis" And she played Andy Griffiths' girlfriend for a while in good old Maybury. Still think she was lovely. Probably still is. |

But, apropos of short-lived series, I also had a strong attraction to the girl who played the young sister on the TV series Hank, which ran at the same time as Honey West. Katie Sweet, just 5 days older than I. Also, come to think of it, short, small, and with long dark hair.

I'm a fan of poet Wendy Cope, who is a few years older than I. I once wrote a poem parodying her H. E. Houseman poem that stated "I am in love with Wendy Cope..."
A fellow-traveller on that board, a man rather younger than I, replied "Dude, she's 'way too old for you." I wrote back: "Is she dead? Then she isn't too old." -- Mal |

but the only female character I remembered was Lottie, because she was like the Miss Kitty character on Gunsmoke. LOL.
