We've allowed manufactured division and petty diversions to take up our time instead of thinking about things that are awesome, more fulfilling to our minds, bodies and souls and needed to survive. We're increasingly leaving the stewardship of nature, human needs and social justice as part of the commons to corporations. By their model, they have never cared about any of these things because they reduce their value to dollars only. We live in a world in which they have badly distorted the meaning of life, but we are pushing back, still.

We see that everywhere. And here is another glaring example of how that plays out.

Two things, why didn't they have some kind of insurance to protect against a huge hit like this and why wasn't there defensive code in their program to halt trading when a dollar threshold was hit, similar to the thresholds stock markets themselves have built in. It's always full speed ahead like the stockholders don't matter -- the stock is down 50% since this error happened. It's just insane and largely avoidable. All it takes is prudent management rather than money grubbers that know nothing.

I think you are deep into the financial side of life and that would be a great thread for those who discuss such things, Really, I could not make head or tail out of what you wrote, but many may. Sorry.

Sometimes in my most cynical moments, I believe that the sole purpose for Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and all the rest is to divide Americans, get us at each other's throats and keep us busy fighting "the little battles" so the rich cats can skim off the top while everybody is distracted.

that the M$M (mainstream media) treat Republicanism as if it were a simple lifestyle choice rather than the abomination of abject EVIL that it is. The time has come for those few journalists who do stand up for progressive values to at the very least recognize (re-cognate) that the Reich-wing in America present an ominously dangerous PATHOLOGY of passive aggression. There is an epidemic of hatred going on in America now and in every case, whether it involves sexism, racism abuse of the poor or disabled, homophobia, etc. the GOP has aligned itself with the side of HATE. Why? Because religious hysteria and all the years of privilege have convinced some of these patricians in the one percent club that their own shit doesn't stink: that they really are superior to others. And in order to feel superior, one must keep someone else down. That's a form of passive aggression. Have a bad day? Hey, kick a homeless person (metaphorically of course--you can't legally kick them, but you can vote in ways that cripple them economically).

Sadly, until it's either lavishly explained to them on TV, or made obvious by another depression in the economy, the masses of sheeple will not understand what's really going on.

The elites of the G0Pee use wedge issues such as guns and religion to stir up a melee among the 99%, attracting just enough people to their side in order to impede progressivism. The RW owns the majority of the media, and they use propaganda machines like Fox News and AM radio to brainwash their voters to hold fellow Americans in contempt. This is similar to what happened in the slave days, where the masters trained their slaves to distrust their peers and to even snitch on them in order to get a little extra food or slightly better jobs.
