The throwing out of balance of the resources of nature throws out of balance also the lives of men." from a Message to Congress on the Use of Our Natural Resources, Washington, D.C., January 24, 1935.
"In these days of difficulty, we Americans everywhere must and shall choose the path of social justice, the path of faith, the path of hope and the path of love toward our fellow men." from a campaign address, Detroit, Michigan, October 2, 1932. "I propose to create a Civilian Conservation Corps to be used in simple work, more important, however, than the material gains will be the moral and spiritual value of such work." from a message to Congress on Unemployment Relief, Washington, D.C., March 21, 1933. "I have seen war. I have seen war on land and sea. I have seen blood running from the wounded. I have seen the dead in the mud. I have seen cities destroyed. I have seen children starving. I have seen the agony of mothers and wives. I hate war." from an address at Chautauqua, NY, August 14, 1936. "Unless the peace that follows recognizes that the whole world is one neighborhood and does justice to the whole human race, the germs of another world war will remain as a constant threat to mankind." from an address to White House Correspondents' Association, Washington, D.C., February 12, 1943. We've allowed manufactured division and petty diversions to take up our time instead of thinking about things that are awesome, more fulfilling to our minds, bodies and souls and needed to survive. We're increasingly leaving the stewardship of nature, human needs and social justice as part of the commons to corporations. By their model, they have never cared about any of these things because they reduce their value to dollars only. We live in a world in which they have badly distorted the meaning of life, but we are pushing back, still. |

41. "They Reduce Their Value To Dollars Only"
|
We see that everywhere. And here is another glaring example of how that plays out.
http://money.msn.com/business-news/article.aspx?feed=OBR&date=20120802&id=15405937 Two things, why didn't they have some kind of insurance to protect against a huge hit like this and why wasn't there defensive code in their program to halt trading when a dollar threshold was hit, similar to the thresholds stock markets themselves have built in. It's always full speed ahead like the stockholders don't matter -- the stock is down 50% since this error happened. It's just insane and largely avoidable. All it takes is prudent management rather than money grubbers that know nothing. |

42. That tech talk has little to do with what I said. If that stock goes down 50%, I could care less.

I think you are deep into the financial side of life and that would be a great thread for those who discuss such things, Really, I could not make head or tail out of what you wrote, but many may. Sorry.

NBC sticking to delayed times for London By Michael Hiestand, USA TODAY Updated 20h 21m ago ...NBC Sports Chairman Mark Lazarus reiterated what NBC has said for literally decades. "This is a business," Lazarus told Sports Business Daily. "It's not everyone's inalienable right to get whatever they want. We are charged with making smart decisions for our company, for our shareholders." Lazarus will likely regret that rare moment of corporate candid. But it's not like NBC is being excessively greedy. Lazarus, before the Games, said NBC would likely lose money on London coverage - it lost $220 million on 2010 Winter Games coverage. But viewers might ask, so what: Comcast, NBC's parent, had total 2011 revenues of $55.8 billion. |

Sometimes in my most cynical moments, I believe that the sole purpose for Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and all the rest is to divide Americans, get us at each other's throats and keep us busy fighting "the little battles" so the rich cats can skim off the top while everybody is distracted.

26. The problem is
|
that the M$M (mainstream media) treat Republicanism as if it were a simple lifestyle choice rather than the abomination of abject EVIL that it is. The time has come for those few journalists who do stand up for progressive values to at the very least recognize (re-cognate) that the Reich-wing in America present an ominously dangerous PATHOLOGY of passive aggression. There is an epidemic of hatred going on in America now and in every case, whether it involves sexism, racism abuse of the poor or disabled, homophobia, etc. the GOP has aligned itself with the side of HATE. Why? Because religious hysteria and all the years of privilege have convinced some of these patricians in the one percent club that their own shit doesn't stink: that they really are superior to others. And in order to feel superior, one must keep someone else down. That's a form of passive aggression. Have a bad day? Hey, kick a homeless person (metaphorically of course--you can't legally kick them, but you can vote in ways that cripple them economically).
Sadly, until it's either lavishly explained to them on TV, or made obvious by another depression in the economy, the masses of sheeple will not understand what's really going on. |

36. This is the modern-day case of divide-and-conquer.
|
The elites of the G0Pee use wedge issues such as guns and religion to stir up a melee among the 99%, attracting just enough people to their side in order to impede progressivism. The RW owns the majority of the media, and they use propaganda machines like Fox News and AM radio to brainwash their voters to hold fellow Americans in contempt. This is similar to what happened in the slave days, where the masters trained their slaves to distrust their peers and to even snitch on them in order to get a little extra food or slightly better jobs.

It is the end result of our trust of Wall St over enlightenment. Greed over grace.
It is destroying our lives, the lives of our children, the lives of every creature who swims, crawls or hops across the dirt and stealing the future from them every day it continues unabated. The modern day Wall St trader is like a Buffalo hunter. They will help kill, skin the precious hide and leave the rest rotting in the sun. Until the day they are all gone. The day they will lament the legacy they leave behind. |
