...one of the "stars" (fuck knows who made this determination) is Caribou Spice's husband....hopefully he crashes and burns like his spouse...

12. I'm not insulting Clark, I just meant the show looks like another stupid "reality" show

Playing war is not something that gets a big laugh out of me. I've friends who are dead, broken from severe PTSD, and one missing a leg from this last batch of war. I doubt they'll enjoy watching tv types laugh their way through a tv show....

Never mind, you wanted to see my remarks as an insult to a general who was hired to host a tv show based on nothing more than the fact that he was a general.

13. I certainly did not WANT to see your remarks as an insult.

I admire General Clark tremendously, doubt very much its 'stupid,' and doesn't seek to get laughs out of 'playing' war. He spent his career preventing catastrophes. We'll all see what the show amounts to.

18. It takes a lot for a Rhodes scholar, West Point Valedictorian, and Vietnam Silver Star recipient to

lose his "cred". Big, BIG Wesley Clark fan here.

20. Do people even reads posts or simply react to thread titles

Was he hired because he was a Rhodes Scholar? no, he was hired because he is a popular general.

And I'm not trashing him, but it appears that he is now the host of a "reality" show where celebrities (high class ones too like Todd Palin PLAY war). I am a tad irked at the show because the people I know who went to war, which is hell by the way, didnt think it something to play about. One is dead, one is missing a leg, and the other is so fucked up from PTSD that he is broken.

I'm glad you're a fan of his, maybe you'll enjoy the show, I dont care, but please read a post before overreacting to it.

21. His "cred" as a General has a great deal to do with the fact he was first in his class at West Point

and a decorated veteran of Vietnam. I don't now or have I ever watched this kind of show. But I find your criticism a bit harsh. Clark to me remains one of the great Democrats and he's the reason I joined DU in 2003. I think he's been neglected by the party and the Obama administration and instead finds himself doing other things. Without evidence of specific bad acts on his part, other than hosting a crappy show for money, I'll give this great American and great Democrat the benefit of the doubt.

6. I sat on a plane with Gen Clark in 2005 (2006?)

He was coming back from visiting his grandkids in.. umm Phoenix, I believe.

You'd be surprised how personable he is. I'm happy to see him back in the news, he can only help.

9. Met him several times when he was on the stump for himself,

and no surprise to me he's so personable; he just IS!
Last I heard, his son/grandkids lived around L.A. Wes jr. is/was a Hollywood type. Thinking about it, I wonder if WesJr has something to do with the upcoming show.

Yes, he can only help, and ESPECIALLY in battleground state of Virginia, with troops and their families, sounds like a win-win to me.

14. I'm a total Clarkhead. That said, 'celebrity anything' on TV is gonna be top-notch silliness

I don't doubt he deserves to make a buck or two. And he might even raise his profile in the talking head circuit, which is a good thing. But that said, this is a shining example of why I don't have a TV.

17. It was a damned shame that he could not step away from his military carreer when he ran

In the end he seemed to be a one-subject candidate, he could not stop using military terms and treating everything as if it were a military mission. I honestly think he is one of the really great stars of the Democratic Party though, a man of great intelligence and deserving of our honor.

19. He is one of the really great stars of the Democratic party, but tptb can't let go of their power.

Don't know what you mean that he 'could not stop using military terms . . . ' etc, unless your perception was based on the questions he was asked, the way the questions were framed. VERY sorry that his extreme intelligence was ignored/pushed aside by Dems at the time, but seemed to me that Hillary's deep pockets could not be beat. We sure tried.
