1. The interesting thing to me is how much the media already had a meta-narrative

about Romney being social clumsy and out-of-touch. I'm not saying he isn't like that, but the press glossed over all kinds of stupid, offensive things that Bush said. OTOH, they skewered Kerry and Gore about the slightest mistep. Maybe they are reacting this way because of the unusual volume of his lies, flip-flps, and straw-man attacks on Obama. Maybe they just don't like him. But as long as everything is framed within this narrative he's got an uphill battle even with all the money on his side.
