I'm going to say August 9, around 4 pm.

The veep pick will be Portman.

The gaffe will be an embarrassing misspelling in his App announcement.

11. I'll pass on the puppies, but I'll answer all three:

#1 Who will be the VP
A: Somebody nobody's ever heard of so there isn't enough time to find dirt on him OR get his/her tax returns.

#2 Time and Date that the VP choice will be announced
A: As late as allowed by law.

#3 Gaffe made when the choice is announced
A: "I know people who own businesses that funded this candidate."

CNN and Fox will both jump the gun and say that the choice is Jane Roberts, wife of SCJ John Roberts, then they will check SCOTUS blog and find out it's Portman.

or

There will be some glitch with the app and then some whining about why the heck did they do it that way and the Romney campaign will blame their tech partner(s).

He is going to have a hard time with a serious candidate because they will both know that they are going to get slaughtered in November and that will not be good for the resume of that person.
