4. We are going to have to be has brave as we can be to face that kind of arsenal...

Solidarity with the righteous Anaheim protesters. Solidarity with my Northern CA compratriots who traveled down to assist. Solidarity with the Occupiers all over the world who have been tweeting in support.

5. I guess we've given up asking why this

isn't on the TV. Has Rachael covered it?

6. I miss Keith. He would have talked about it. There was a photo on the front page of the

Ventura Star (CA) yesterday and an article about the protests, but the text made no comment about the 'soldiers' on the streets of Anaheim. At least they published the photo but I wondered why they made no comment about it.

11. That was and is true, even here at supposedly liberal spots like DU. Olympics threads

overwhelmed threads about this story over the weekend.

Very strange trying to get the word out through all the 'spoiler alert' flamewars going on.

12. The young Turks not only covered it

but had Tim Pool on.

But you expect the corporate media to cover this? Serious?

10. Orange county is super right wing.

they live in fear and so they call out the "over reaction" force to stamp down any desenting voices and make sure the media keeps a lid on it.

This is a little preview of what life will be like if lost mittens gets in.

14. Yes, at least according to the "POLICE" on the backs of

these camo uniforms. However, there was some tin-foil discussion on other threads that some of these forces might be either CA National Guard troops (pretty much debunked) or Blackwater-XE mercenaries (not debunked but not thoroughly vetted either, IIRC).

I've been nose-to-nose with regular LAPD at Occupy protests (like the May 1 General Strike in downtown LA) and that's plenty scary as it is. I've never come face-to-face with this type of cop yet.

15. Nothing says Police State as much as militarization of the police.

Seriously chilling.
Almost as chilling as the people who refuse to believe we ARE in a police state.

16. There's some interesting sociological stuff at play here, aside

from the obviously militarized police.

To wit, the Anaheim City Council is composed of members elected 'at large' and who hail from the largely white and affluent Anaheim Hills area. West Anaheim (where the shootings and demonstrations have been taking place) is largely Latino, poor and working class. West Anaheim is distinctly unrepresented on the Anaheim City Council.
