I got a real problem with that statement since I am living in my parents basement. Little does this guy know how really hard it is to qualify for programs like Welfare, Social Security Disability, Medicaid, or sometimes food stamps. It took me several years to get SSDI .. I had to get a lawyer who got to take his entitlement ($) as well. If you're going for Medicaid, be sure to have spent down all of your savings and get rid of all your assets, that goes for Medicaid too .. they don't want you to have much. I am going for the food stamp program next .. simply because my Disability payments aren't really enough to keep myself fed. I am actually very happy to be on Medicare, I no longer have to pay thousands upon thousands of dollars for HIV meds. That has been going on for almost 25 years now. So I guess I am suppose to be ashamed that I have a room in my 80 year old parents home ... well I had no where else to go, and the very little money I receive is hardly enough to pay off my debt, let alone afford a decent apartment in this area. I don't consider myself a loser at all .. but some of us, because we are disabled don't have many choices.

Just try to get on ssi . medicare. medicaid .(medical in ca) . social security. etc . for me it was constant denail and took my team and i 5 years to get on ssi. i was constantly denied social security too along w food stamps and so on. finaly i asked for a appeal. helps with the right team. none of the fancy high priced socalled ssi laywers wouldnt even help. good luck dear sir. you want it when ?

There is the SNAP program, and some other mediocre benefits for the poor. A friend of mine sent me a PM the other day telling me how much she admired Clinton, because he eliminated "Welfare" and empowered women to go get jobs and get off the government dole. She went on and on about how great black low-income women were doing now, because they don't have to suck off the government teat. They are "empowered" now.

So, you see, she's not racist. She explained it to me. She likes what Clinton did. Which is why she is going to vote for Romney. He'll "empower" even more single mothers and poor people.

Remember, you can't stay on it very long before they put you in a workfare program. She will regret her decision. Of that you can be sure.

I assume she doesn't own anything of value and has no cash or investments. You have to qualify for food stamps and welfare by proving you don't have any money.

In my experience, people are always shocked to learn how little money they can have to qualify for welfare and even just food stamps. Medicaid is also hard to qualify for.

A job of almost any kind is better. Unfortunately, many jobs in the US do not pay enough to cover food, rent, utilities and transportation. So some of the food stamps and other government assistance goes to the working poor. That is a shameful thing.

If the teabagger really does have a company, odds are that he/she gets most of their revenue from the federal government.

I run into these people all the time -- they're retired military on military pensions; or they are retired military and they have another job working for a military contractor; or they are in business for themselves and get 90 percent of their business from the military.

Then they gripe and whine about the deficit and the size of the government.

I was thinking about this this morning actually since by ultra-conservative brother-in-law just retired from the Marines after 20 years and is now taking a very nice paying job with a military contractor. Oh, and his Rmoney loving wife has been on the public payroll for about twenty years, too, as a teacher's aid.

But according to them the country is doomed because of all the leeches on the government dole/payroll -- except them -- for some reason they are necessary.

What also occurred to me, however, is that we really to have a military "officers class" in this country that is very right-wing, very Repuglican, very pro-war, very nationalistic, very well-off thanks to us, the working class taxpayer. When a special class like this has developed in other countries it has often led to very bad things like coups and unnecessary wars and a military oligarchy.

welfare recipients, immigrants, and the un-employed. Very comfortably retired now with full benefits. Drinks and travels whenever he wants to.

Doesn't talk to anyone he disagrees with without insulting them, even when he doesn't even know them from adam.

Honestly, he really does preach about how struggle is good for the soul and everyone is weak. Has this whole warrior cult thing going on, but has never been in combat.

Sorry to say, people like that make it hard on my attitude toward "veterans". If I didn't know others who are more honest, I would be prejudiced against them.

It does make it hard when there's that 'I'm better,' mindset, in all categories. I've known union people and even postal workers who think the same thing, despite the GOP destroying the livelihood and safety for current and future generations. 'They got theirs.' Sad.

Is responsible for ALL of this. Most vets I know are extremely supportive of the disabled, in particular. Some say that it is just part of what they signed on for, to protect all Americans, even if their government lets them down.

But all it takes is a few that are so off the wall, you just don't know what to say. Because of all people, they know that we have to stick together. That's how they survived.

After arguing with union Reagan Democrats who didn't see the writing on the wall, who decided to elect Reagan, you know you have hit a brick wall with some people. I knew postal workers as well, all GOP, who figured they'd get their retirement and didn't care if it went broke. There are patterns in our lives that are stronger than reason.

I feel that it's a matter of fear and denial at the core. If a person can't convince themselves that they deserve more than others, when they see others doing without, they feel it may happen to them, if they aren't special in some kind of way. So they deny their equality with those suffering, in hopes it won't come to them. That's all I can imagine this is.

Like any other large group, it is a mistake to categorize all people within as the same. The small groups are the ones you have to worry about. Small groups that manipulate large groups.

Veterans are a cross section of America. It is on the elected Republicans that soldiers are forced fed Rush Limbaugh on Armed Forces Network. Of course the propaganda machine cannot be confined within our borders.

All the flag waving right wing mania adds an added touch as well. The Republican mantra is "We are the only ones that support you."

Considering the forces at play, veterans are still not 100% Teabilly. They have relatives at home. The opportunity to witness reality is there. They predominately come from middle class or poor families.

Don't confuse the Islam phobic, flag waving Teabillys with veterans. They are not all the same.

I'm a veteran myself. I did technical training for 4 months with all branches, so I know in the military, though it has its own culture, the people are pretty much like the rest of us.

AFAIK, having never qualified but seen the forms they have. They demand bank account numbers and assets to be declared and when the income goes up again they must pay the state back.

Or if they never work again but need help, when they die, the state will take the assets. At least that's the way it used to be for people that ended up in nursing homes on Medicaid, and to be eligible for one you would be eligible for the other, I'm thinking.

Also, if he is able bodied he will have to show he is looking for work, or if he claims he is sick, he has to prove it, and then prove he is getting treatment to get better and return to work. Being poor is not a carefree vacation, nor is being on disability, etc..

There was one guy who posted on another blog who used to claim that he was well off, had three business, and a bunch of employees. Strange that with all that going on, he found time to be on the blog 12 hours a day. I know people who have their own businesses and they're lucky to have time to poop, never mind spend the day on blogs.
