Soderbergh is a strange filmmaker. I don't go to his movies so I was a newbie at this one. It has a "removed" quality to it. Sorry to go all artsy-fartsy on you, but you do become aware of the fact that the male stripper routines are in fact choreographed (and, you learn later, by a woman at that...).

It is interesting. There is great dancing and some good acting. But it is a long movie and some of it moves slowly. I wouldn't recommend it just for a fast thrill...but a longer glance, yes, it has something to say about that "underworld" and also about what it is about our society that people work for a pittance to be demolished socially and financially...

world and sort of sanitizing it with a typical formula. The guy from True Blood...can't think of his name...he plays a guy who devolves into drugs and prostitution, from what I've read...how did they handle that?

system, that is the problem Soderberg is dealing with. I wouldn't call it "sanitized" at all. It is pretty gritty in one sense. The only way it isn't is with the choreography since you are aware of real artistry at work and it is terrific. But what is wrong with that? Can't art be real and vice versa? While I don't think the choreography alters the situation that much (because so does the camera if you think about it) it does give it a strange beauty.

More the fact that if a thread was started based on a slideshow of attractive female athletes, there would be likely be objections due to objectifying of the athletes.

Painting any group with a broad brush doesn't help the discussion. It was using any excuse to provoke an attack on feminists.

There is a large difference between objectifying someone and admiring a photo of a person.

Oh I forgot, it's ok to objectify men because it's better to objectify men AND women than it is to stop objectifying women. Gotcha.
