Romney's College Transcripts

Last edited Tue Jul 24, 2012, 01:32 AM - Edit history (1)

Has he released them? I cannot find them online. If he has released them, is there a link? If he has not released them, how are we not squashing the talking point from the right that Romney will release his taxes when Obama releases his college transcripts?

On edit: I don't care about them. I don't think he needs to release them. But if he hasn't, we should be using that when the right complains about Obama's.

They either lie and say they have been released, change the subject, or say that Romney isn't President yet so he doesn't have to release it. Basically the same thing they do when you point out Romney hasn't released a long form birth certificate

His tax records? Yes. But not the rest of it. I don't like Rmoney, but we invade their personal lives too much.

I'm sure you've heard the right complain that Obama has not released his college transcripts. I don't care that he hasn't either, but if we make a point of noting that Romney AND Obama are equal in that level, it puts focus back on the tax records.

Dem: Romney has not released his tax records.
Rep: So, Obama hasn't released his college transcripts.
Dem: Neither has Romney. Obama has released his tax records. Romney has not released his tax records.
Rep: Um ...

However, it is the insidious ways that the right wing nuts worm their way into every aspect of the Obama's lives, from their kindergarten friends to their second generation relatives that may not be christian that makes it important that we return the favor.

Romney is running on his qualification to be president on account of his superior financial acumen. The record of his business accomplishments, which is essentially accumulating personal wealth, is his tax returns. In other words, it is relevant to what he considers to be the primary reason why he should be president.

In the event you friends have not noticed, Mr. Obama has been president for the last three and a half years. If they would like to assess what sort of qualification he possesses, then it comes down to their opinion of his stewardship of that office. What classes he took, or what grades he got, some twenty years ago, is not particularly relevant to any rational assessment of his actual performance AS president.

What financial dealings Mr. Romney has had for the last few years IS relevant to such a rational assessment.

Match for match - we've seen all of the Obamas' tax returns. We have not seen Romney's. Neither Obama nor Romney has released college transcripts.

So, explain me this. In response to what we have not seen from Romeny, but which we have seen from Obama, then why is it considered "equivalent" to ask for something which NEITHER candidate has released?

The ask here is that Romney release the SAME data Obama has released. While it may seem odd to some for a white man and a black man to be held to the same standard, that is all which is being asked.

Has Romney said he would release both his tax returns and college transcripts if Obama does? No, he hasn't. It is simply a false equivalance, and a double standard.

They are both very smart men who did well in their university studies.

We shouldn't be suggesting that the college transcripts are of equivalent importance to the tax returns, which Obama has released and Romney has not.

that he would rather not have the public see...what I would like to see more is his juvenile record and his college file.
